I saw the first showing today. About 50 people. Some marines and a sprinkling of old folks. Some senior women without men, probably looking at Craig.
Posting to see if people want to chat.

Anybody care to poke fun at a name of the Obama/villain 007 movie, other than something crude like Blackfinger. The Man-Child With an Ebony Gun

It was good for what it was. Far heavier on the action and not much on the spying part. Oh look at Bond running from one action sequence to another.
I have to agree with the reviews that say Marc Forster was compensating for not being an action director. Amazingly he almost totally abandons his strength in this movie. The dramatic moments aren't present hardly at all.
This movie is taking far too many cues from the Bourne series.
They still have a great set of actors for the returning characters so hopefully things will progress in the next movies.
Oh and Olga Kurylenko is good looking, but I'm becoming more of a fan of Gemma Arterton.

I saw this picture today and loved it. What I like is less dependence on gadgets and more on a storyline.
I think Daniel Craig is about as good as Sean Connery ever was in his prime, maybe better.
It was a good action picture and certainly did not have a slack moment.
I really like the actor playing Felix Liter, they need to use him a little more in the next picture.
People right now are looking for escapism and this is the ticket.
So go see it and enjoy, I intend to see it again.

Forget the reviews, it’s a great action flick.
To: Ramius
Medved sees things that may not be there. The plot was interesting and just go see it for the fun and action.

He is signed for two more movies.
To: Captain Peter Blood
Maybe when it’s on DVD. I’m really not that fond of action movies; there has to be some other reason I’d want to see it. Maybe for Judi Dench.

Bond movies were at their pinnacle in the sixties. They were creative, innovative and original. Beginning in the 70’s they started borrowing from the genres de jour - in the latest installment they seem to be borrowing heavily from the Bourne movies. The latest version has a thin plot and weak characters.
Who cares? I still enjoyed it. Favorite scene - the rooftop chase. Bonus scene - get to see a $200,000 car get demolished in the opening scene. Also, it's good to see Bond back to being a ruthless killer (like Connery was). Need to shop around for a better villain Though...

I saw this picture today and loved it. What I like is less dependence on gadgets and more on a storyline. I agree with you completely. It's an EXCELLENT Bond.
And the storyline couldn't possibly be more topical.
Well done all around.

Yeah, the villian’s “Global Warming” BS reminded me of Al Gore. GW really is an international racket though, which makes it scarier than a movie.
