Look behind the crowd next to the field in the photo of the Navy-Columbia game. Is that a big clock or what, sports fans?

I guess it’s what they had to do before digital numbers showing game time.
But that is a BIG clock, LOL!

Notre Dame used to win?
That WAS from a long time ago.

Duke was unbeaten, untied and not scored on that year. Believe me, it was a LONG time ago. :)

With that record Duke must have played on New Year’s Day. I will keep an eye peeled for a report on my next journey to yesteryear.

Played in the Rose Bowl. Duke lost to USC 7-3 in a last minute score by the Trojans. Duke then hosted the Jan. 1 1942 Rose Bowl due to a ban on large gatherings on the west coast after Pearl Harbor.

Up in Seattle, USC Trojans sure went to the dogs, as the rain and mud aided the Huskies in pulling out their upset win. Nonetheless, our Rose Bowl hopes appear to be bright.
For our next game, we will be returning to the Coliseum to play the UCLA Bruins, who have never beaten us.

The USC Trojans certainly went to the dogs last night, losing 7-6 to the Washington Huskies in the rain and mud at Seattle. But they’ll be back in the Coliseum on Thanksgiving Day to play the UCLA Bruins, who have never beaten Troy.

With that record Duke must have played on New Years Day. I will keep an eye peeled for a report on my next journey to yesteryear If Duke and USC can make it to the Rose Bowl, it ought to be quite a donnybrook. Those two schools have never before played one another.
