Boxers, Briefs or Silks? (frustrated & unfulfilled Maureen Dowd STILL fixated on Palin)
NY Times ^ | 11/11/08 | Maureen Dowd

Sarah Palin represents a huge historic leap forward for women.

(snip)

But Sarah Palin can come across as utterly unready to lead the world — or even find the world on a map — and that doesn’t reflect poorly on the rest of us.

It only means that she doesn’t have enough mind grapes or thoughtsicles, as Tracy Morgan refers to brain droppings on “30 Rock,” to be president soon.

Another PDS column from Dowd calls for the addition of Sarah to the usual "Rules". I think we know what's *really* irking Dowd, and it's in both of these photos:

Last night one of my daughter's lib journalism profs had the class read aloud Miss Dowd’s column, under the guise of “enlightening” them on opinion journalism. My daughter responded after class to her that her final paper would be titled “Journalism is Dead in 2008”.

She then smugly asked my daughter if she ever reads any papers outside the NYC area. Her response. . . "uh, the Washington Post and the LA Times?, no, I don't read those". I could not have been prouder of her.

Unreadable, disjointed, illogical, incoherent twaddle. No wonder Michael Douglas dumped her.

"But Sarah Palin can come across as utterly unready to lead the world — or even find the world on a map — and that doesn’t reflect poorly on the rest of us."

Oh enough of this nonsense! This is getting utterly moronic!

For anyone interested, especially Ms. Dowd, go read up on the Alaska Highway Pipeline that Sarah Palin negotiated to be built by TransCanada Corp. Sarah busted the chops of ExxonMobil, ConnocoPhillips and BP who had been sitting on their butts for years not wanting to build a much needed gas pipeline coming off the North Slope. In doing so, this new pipeline will provide the USA with 6%-8% of natural gas needs. Iran, Russia, and Qatar are in the process of forming a natural gas cartel. Sarah Palin just beat those three countries in a geopolitical economic war and put the USA on the road to ensured independence for our natural gas needs.

And Obama has done what? What has that nasty little do-nothing ever done? Nothing! Obama can't hold a candle to Sarah Palin's achievements!

Enough of this nonsense. Sarah Palin is a very intelligent woman who is making America energy independent and Obama is a complete MORON who is going to strangle the USA into serfdom to the terrorist nations who produce energy.

If the New York Times has not considered why its revenues are dropping, it might pause over the fact that it is spending good money on this drivel, and wasting even more money by printing said drivel and publishing it on the Internet.

The writing is not even up to the standard for a local high school newspaper, much less as "opinion" from a newspaper that would like to think that it is still an important one. (I still find it hard to believe that any editor would let her recourse to a very lame Shavian jape through.)

Few people want to read such dreary, intensely catty material.

It is a very good thing for Sarah Palin, in particular, and for Conservatism, in general, that Maureen Dowd and others are continuing to obsess like this.

The absolute worst thing that could happen to Palin is for the media to ignore her. If they did, she would be marginalized, and she would have no opportunity to rehabilitate her image. The last thing said about her before the election, that she was a lighthead, knuckle-dragging, know-nothing Caribou Barbie who cost John McCain the Presidency, would have been the last word. But now she can battle back, and call the jerks “jerks” when they are being jerks, and call the liars “liars” when they lie. She can refute the nonsense without having to worry about the electoral fall-out.

This presents Palin with a great opportunity, and it looks like she is going to make the most of it. The time for rehabilitation is right now, in the lull between the election and the run-up to Inaugeration. Next year will be too late. Nobody gave a damn about what Dan Quayle had to say in 1993. His reputation was cast in concrete, and there was nothing he could do about it.

Sarah Palin can still do something about it, thanks to the inability of the Loony Left to leave well enough alone. People are, by and large, fair minded. They want to hear her side of the story.

What is really amazing is that in spite of the MANY, MANY brain dead comments that spilled out of Biden’s cake hole, Dowd and others have no reservations about the man becoming President. Even worse, Obama, the street organizer is on video admitting that he is unqualified, and almost every thing he has said without a teleprompter over the last two years backs him up, and yet the crazy left has no qualms about Barry leading the country.

This selective criticism of Palin reminds me of the almost identical arguments that the left made about Reagan being an idiot, and Bush lacking Gravitas. They trot out the same old cliche's because they fear Palin, like they feared Regan and Bush.

Ahhh, the irony of somebody who knows who Tracy Morgan is, and knows what she says on a tv sitcom calling somebody else dense is wonderful to behold.

When I am with my Libbie friends, and they trot out that old "Reagan was an idiot/Bush is an idiot/McCain is an idiot/Palin is an idiot" argument, I will look them right in the eye and say, "I am a Conservative. I find your argument that all Conservatives are stupid to be simplistic and insulting. You should be more careful about what you say."

I have had the pleasure of using that line at least a half dozen times, and it never fails to stop them in their tracks. After you eliminate the "(fill-in-the-Conservative) is an idiot" argument, then got nuthin' left.

They want you to go along to get along, to agree and say, "Oh yeah, that Bush, he is some kind of ignorant cowboy..." But if you do so, you have ceded the field, and they win by default. Don't let them win so easily.
