Boy slits girl's throat in Montrose High lobby By Kirk Mitchell The Denver Post Article Last Updated: 11/11/2008 01:17:27 PM MST
Students of Montrose High School are evacuated after a school-wide lockdown following an attack on a 16-year-old female student early Tuesday morning Nov. 11, 2008. (Special to the Post | William Woody) A boy calmly walked into the entrance of Montrose High School this morning, grabbed a girl from behind and slit her throat in front of dozens of classmates.
The sophomore girl was taken by ambulance in serious condition to Montrose Memorial Hospital, where she is undergoing surgery. The juvenile suspect was arrested shortly after the attack near the high school at 600 S. Selig, said Kathi Kinkel, Montrose police spokeswoman. The juvenile is not a student of the high school and it is not known what the motive was, Kinkel said. School was closed for the day and students sent home.More . .
He calmly walks up to her and grabbed her by the throat," Gomez said. "He pulled her head back and slit her throat." She said the girl dropped her books, held her throat and began screaming, "'Oh, my God. Someone help me.'"
The suspect turned around and looked straight into Gomez' eyes "as if nothing happened and calmly walked out of the building," she recounted. The hallway was very full, said Linda Gann, spokeswoman for the Montrose County School District. "He just disappeared," she said. "There was a bunch of blood everywhere." Puddles of blood were forming on the floor, Gomez said. She said the cut was very deep.
"I'm still pretty shocked and kind of scared," she said. "It's overwhelming. I hope she will be okay." The victim is on the school's junior varsity softball team, according to an acquaintance.
The name of the suspect has not been released because he is a juvenile, Kinkel said. Gann said counseling will be made available for students when they return to class tomorrow.
"If they need to talk through things, the resources will be made available for them to do that," Gann said. "It's the classic 'things like that aren't supposed to happen here.'" Montrose High School has 1,400 students, she said. Kirk Mitchell: 303-954-1206 or kmitchell@denverpost.com
Homeschooler attack, for sure. /sarc
Confession. Firing squad. Tomorrow.
This is such b.s.! They should handle any violent assault of this type as an adult crime...right from the get go. This kid sounds like a monster who needs to be put away for good.
How about some obligatory diversity training?

A botched honor killing. Can’t say anything, move along, Citizens...
Another one of those Amish terrorists...
You beat me to it.
huh??
We’re going to have knife control like the UK does.
Woodshed? That's attempted murder. He needs to go away for about 20 years.
Not according to William Ayers and Barack Obama. They think no person under the age of 18 should be tried as an adult no matter how horrible the crime.
Which version of the song do you like best?
I like the “Skip” James blues version, but the Madeline Perouixe version is pretty good also.
Montrose Memorial Hospital reported that the student is out of surgery “in serious condition with a favorable outlook.”
ps:
not near Denver
Give the perp 30 years, keep the public safe.
Kinkel is a name of some fairly recent painful significance.
