When Clintons took over, we knew friends who knew the naval aide that went from GHW Bush to the president who was “too smart to be in the military”. This guy reportedly saw first hand what jerks the Clintons were - Hillary never went to a military commemoration and was HATED by the Gold Star moms. Also, don’t forget those reports from the Secret Service - I had it that they were all true - a bunch of Yale educated, trailer park trash.

Mass resignations followed by secession and the formation of the Grand Army of the Confederacy.

This War Between The States may very well be bloodless.
1) There is a mutual desire on the part of Liberals and Conservatives to be rid of each other.
2) There is economic parity between Liberal and Conservative states.
3) Federal government is now the banker of last resort. If people can swap houses and jobs and refinance new mortgages at prevailing market prices.
4) Everyone knows that the cost is beyond comprehension and terrorists are still plotting.

As an NCO I am not allowed to resign. And if I were an officer I would not resign. My oath is to “support and defend the constitution” which does not mean my oath is to the president. I am sworn to obey his orders so long as those orders are not illegal. I did not vote for Clinton or Obama but I will gladly salute the office of president.

An officer’s position, if at all connected to the President, rests on his words. He can compeltely trash a perfectly good career. The higher the officer’s rank, the more political is becomes. NCOs do not have that issue.

Will Obama return the salute ?
As a civilian he doesn’t have to and may decide to end the precedent started by Ronald Reagan.

http://www.ronaldreagan.com/tradition.html

“I was told presidents weren’t supposed to return salutes, so I didn’t, but this made me feel a little uncomfortable. Normally, a person offering a salute waits
until it is returned, then brings down his hand.
Sometimes, I realized, the soldier, sailor, marine, or airman giving me a salute wasn’t sure when he was supposed to lower his hand.
Initially, I nodded and smiled and said hello and thought maybe that would bring down the hand,
but usually it didn’t.”
“I know it’s customary for the president to receive these salutes, but I was once an officer and realize that you’re not supposed
to salute when you’re in civilian clothes.
I think there ought to be a regulation that the president could return a salute inasmuch as he is commander in chief and civilian clothes are his uniform.”
Reagan consulted with a Marine general about whether he could return the salute.

” “Well, if you did return a salute,” the general said,
“I don’t think anyone would say anything to you about it.”

“The next time I got a salute, I saluted back.
A big grin came over the marine’s face and down came his hand.
From then on, I always returned salutes. When George Bush followed me into the White House,
I encouraged him to keep up the tradition. “

Our men and women of the United States Military will do their duty.

I agree they'll do their duty. But nothing else. They won't go the extra mile as they would for a president they respect.

Case in point, when I was stationed at Travis AFB, Clinton would often land at our base to refuel when returning from the far east. The maintenance squadron would be informed a few hours before he intended to land, and call for volunteers to "catch" his plane. The vounteers would marshal the plane to a parking spot on the ramp, then refuel it. Guess what? They couldn't find volunteers. This was a chance to direct Air Force One, and they couldn't get volunteers.

The senior line personnel recalled there was always a fight to have the honor of catching Bush Sr's plane. Airmen needed to be assigned to catch Clinton's.

The military discipline is so strong they will probably salute, but with every raised arm the hated will become stronger.””

Exactly, and Hussein and his minions know this simple fact.

Sadly, if BO maintains the current rotation of the President’s attendance at service academy graduations, he will be handing a diploma to John McCain’s son at USNA this May.

This scene may make me physically ill.

I feel for them because he is not a friend of the military. I understand that, even if you do not.

And I understand, based on almost 30 years Navy service, that the military will accord President Obama the respect he is due as Commander in Chief. Even if you do not.

They salute the position not the commie Chicago thug!

True, but I was always taught that it was the duty of the officer to earn the respect that his rank entitled him. The greater the rank, the greater the duty.

I was also taught that abuse or failure to live up to the requirements of my position would result in private and surreptitious mocking and disrespect that no amount of future effort could undo.

I did my time in the service of my country as have other members of my family in every conflict since Queen Anne's War.

Our military will professionally render all due honors but I seriously doubt that Obama will live up to his office.

A salute is to the office/rank/position the person holds — NOT necessarily the one who fills up the suit.

Wow, your name fits. That had nothing to do with B. Hussein’s disdain for people who defend our country.

And though their duty calls for what you deem as “respect”, I hope the men and women defend the Constitution first. Even if you do not.

I'm sure the men and women of the miltary have a better understanding of the Constitution than you do. And I'll sleep better knowing you're not one of them.

What you're "sure" about and what is actually true are not necessarily accurate. But that has been obvious since you started replying to this thread.
