Many of us here put God first, and those of us who do need not worry.

I grew up in the church, got away during my 20s and 30s, started back about 15 years ago, and within the past 5 years have felt very compelled to get closer to God. I have been to church most every week, studied the scriptures, read and prayed daily, like never before in my life. Last year, turning 50 I made a pilgrimage to Rome and visited the Vatican about 6-7 times, although I am not Catholic. I have not understood why I felt so compelled, but I fill more religious, spiritual, and closer to God than ever before in my life. I hope and pray I am filled with the spirit, we may very well be facing unknown calamities.

Sounds like you are really being drawn to the Lord...may He help you be His hands and feet to others while you are able to extend fellowship to them.

My one caution: be careful you read Scripture in context and do not allow an emotion or subjective point of view be your guide.

Also, don’t forget to practice His love to others. I find myself constantly being reminded...I can’t just read His word and marinate in it, I also have to show love to my fellow man through it. :)

I’ll pray for you! :)
