Help. I can't get the cd-writer to slide open. The old computer had a little hole so the paper clip trick would work, but this computer doesn't have the little hole or at least I don't see it.
Can anyone help?

Grow up.
The guy needs nelp. It’s posted in chat. What else do you want?
And how much bandwidth is he “hogging” anyway?
what is a zot?
Well, aren’t we the little hall monitor?
1/4 inch chisel and hammer should open it
Every CD driver has a tee-tiny, little hole on them, somewhere. Unbend a paper clip and poke it in. Voila.
There you go! Great idea.

Ask Obama, he’ll lend you a hammer and sickle...that should do the trick...
Ok, bakc again. Junior finished homework just in time for the bus, sigh...
Didn’t need to bash it with a hammer but used a knife to move the slider-drawer-thingy around. I figured nothing lost if I damaged anythng but all seems fine.
Thanks, I knew I could count on y’all. Have a good day!
Used to having people do everything you say?
Not anymore.
Now, go play outside and stop bothering the grownups.
Da*n, and I thought it was one of those smilies.

Nyuk! Nyuk!
Glad you got it sorted. A couple or three years ago, I killed my CD-RW drive. My tower sits in front of me, but the drive is a few inches above eye level (honkin’ big Antec full tower case.) One day, I put a disc in the tray and closed it.
Oops! Because the tray was above eye level, I failed to notice the OTHER disc ALREADY in the tray. Two discs in the same tray will ruin any CD or DVD drive when the poor, unsuspecting laser tries to read the disc.
Lesson learned.
Ooops! Glad I’m not the only one who does such things, lol.
Believe it or not, we ALL have done something like that before. Few choose to make it public for fear of ridicule.
