I’ve seen her a few times on O’Reilly.

She’s a very dim bulb. Kind of Hasselbeck Lite. Which is why OBigMouth likes her.

I can’t stand her. She is pro-abortion and pro gay marriage. I can’t stand her arrogance either.

Hoover is pro-abortion and pro-gay rights. That’s all I need to know about her. Apparently she is a relation to former President Herbert Hoover.

She’s a dem operative in the repub party...nothing more and nothing less.

I am a middle aged conservative and a follower of Jesus. I traveled (airplane and driving) all day to get to my Illinois precinct to vote for McCain/Palin and Mark Kirk. I did not hear the interview you refer to, but I have given much thought and study to communication. I think we do need to listen to and not just dismiss what she is saying. We older and "wiser" conservatives need to attempt to understand the vernacular of the next generation (Obama did), so that we may have a chance at communicating with them. Through effective communication, we might just learn what it is they "get" Effective communication (interactive) certainly increases our chances of influencing the younger generations. And we just might be surprised to learn that we are closer in thought and values than we think.

What also comes to mind is a lesson learned in Scripture. When the returning Israelites returned from exile to rebuild the temple (Book of Ezra), we find the new temple foundation being laid by the younger generation. The older generation could only watched. (Ezra 3:10-13)

There were shouts of joy combined with weeping. What's interesting to note is that it was the COMBINED sound that was heard far away. It was the combined sound of all the people that the far away enemies heard. The combination of the sounds created a stronger message. Could we consider that as an option rather than drawing lines to identify "true conservatives"?

Ezra 3:10-13
“When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests in their vestments and with trumpets, and the Levites (the sons of Asaph) with cymbals, took their places to praise the LORD, as prescribed by David king of Israel. With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD :
‘He is good;his love to Israel endures forever.’
And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. But many of the older priests and Levites and family heads, who had seen the former temple, wept aloud when they saw the foundation of this temple being laid, while many others shouted for joy. No one could distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people made so much noise. And the sound was heard far away.

Margaret Hoover, great grand daughter of Herbert Hoover, is what is wrong with the Republican party. Because of people like her, it strikes me that it may be time to really change the name and organization of the Republican Party. There is a reason there are Libertarians..they want less govt but have some ideas that don’t comport with conservatism. Maybe there is a need for a grass roots movement for a real conservative party. How to put that together I don’t know.I just think within the GOP we need our own revolution.

Inspiring, but how does it apply to the specific issues? Do you really think that pro-choice positions are just dismissed? That it is easy to think through what it means to protect marriage?

I remember reading that most young people value marriage more highly because of the divorces that they experienced. Don’t they get it better than those that are following a fad?

Not just inspiring. The lesson is that the older and younger generations do it together. And by doing it together, we have a greater potential to demonstrate our message and strength to the opposition.

I know for a fact that Pro-choice positions are never just dismissed. No type of rhetoric or support will ever erase that which our soul was never created to do (taking life). God will wrestle with that person’s soul while on earth and whatever their eternity may be. The way the woundedness is manifested varies depending on the person. But, they are wounded and burdened forever by their action.

But I do not believe that screaming PROLIFE at the younger generation - especially by those who haven’t necessarily dealt with abortion, is an effective way to get their attention.

What I get back to is the importance of care-fully engaging in discussion with them. You have a better chance of helping them connect all the dots. Very often even believers of Christ are confronted with pregnancy. And, in their confusion and fear, they make a one sided bargain with Christ and flee from those who might counsel and care for them - often because there never has been embracing non-judging relationships. I’ve known more than one elder’s daughter who had an abortion. Unfortunately, I learned after the fact. Their parents’never knew.

They cannot “think through what it means to protect marriage” if they’re doing it in the arena of the secular world and those who do understand what it means to protect marriage standing there shaking their fingers at them and talking.... I fear that what they hear come out of the older generations’ mouths is the sound Charlie Brown heard whenever an adult spoke.

We must intentionally communicated with them. Seek them out, develop a relationship, understand them and help them understand.

Does that help?

While what you say works at the interpersonal level, I think that we and especially young people live in a media world and unfortunately are beyond being reached anywhere else.

If we let a young media personality (like the talking head above) simply say that these issues are a matter of ‘getting it’ or the latest fashio to millions of people without some rebuttal then they will be deaf to quiet voices in our counter culture.

I agreed, it is somewhat limited to and at the interpersonal level, but, these days that appears to be the only place I have some control over my influence. Also, I’m still numb from the election results. The fighter in me should return soon. That, or I’m moving to Alaska!

I understand what you are saying, and, the “noise” and efforts of the YES California Prop 8 campaign did inform people of the sanctity of marriage, but I don’t know how you can silence the talking heads or MSM. We’ve already received a huge lesson on how we can’t silence them or get rebuttals in. We have been neutered in the public square. Frightening.

I agree. She should work for Obama or maybe that was her intention. I can only think that the news has become a circus as well; ratings. Who knows what peoples motivation is lately with all the lies, who can tell who is telling the truth. I'm sorry to say that we Americans and the last patriots will be fighting this war for a long time. Fighting for what is RIGHT! How did we become so decadent? God help us. In the end will the South rise again or will there be American Patriots? Will we be extreme right wingests? If that means to stand up for what is right and pure and clean then I'm a Patriot! True American! No more Democrats! No more Left wing Republicans! Just pure Patriots! Lets get back to basics America.

I’m a Christian too, but your incorrect in your analysis of this. If you truly are a Christian then you will stand with millions of others that know that homosexuality is anti-God, anti-Christian. God also told us to go into the low lands and kill the people with the iron chariots, but because the Jews didn’t and had compassion on their enemies they ended up like them adulterating themselves and falling into sin. Change does not mean compromising your moral and religious beliefs. Second and most important are left wing liberals that murder. Yes! Murder innocent babies. So what does that mean can we walk up to someone and put a gun to their head and say I’m committing an abortion here; Obama said its ok. That’s what we do when we murder a baby. They have rights too and this whole socialistic approach is not what my grandparents fought for.

You need to listen to God on this one. God is not a God of disorder, but of Order!

I’m proposing the same thought that we need a drastic change within our own party. I believe that the Republican Party, or the make up of our own people are actually Left wing liberals in disguise. I propose the Patriot Party. Get back to the constitution. Get back to what we use to be.

What is with you people re: Margaret Hoover? She’s a right-thinking, dynamic individual who speaks out on views that are shared by most conservatives (see 2008 elections). Republican party better figure out quick that it needs to get out of people’s bedrooms, or else they will be looking at a dry spell that lasts much longer than the next 8 years.

She, like many, is not a conservative..she may claim to be a Republican but she is so moderate she gives the impression she is so moderate in her thoughts that she may as well be a democrat.
I think those who once made up the democrat party are now socialist, the moderate Republicans are now in thought more liked the democrats of old and the conservatives are the voices out in the wilderness.
I am not in anyone’s bedroom..I don't give a fig what they do in the privacy of their own homes..just keep it out of my face...
