So many things are disappearing these days. I remember 2 of these as pets at the local bait shop.

Early Mad Magazine loved the word axolotl.
From around 1958:
I wandered lonely as a clod
Just picking up old rags and bottles,
when on the lonely road I trod
I came upon some axolotls.
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
A sight to make a man’s blood freeze.
Some had handles, some were plain-
they were orange, pink, and green, in the main.
My hair stood up, my blood ran cold.
I fled with fear upon my soul.
I find my solace now in bottles,
and I forget them axolotls.

Those are funny. That said, I try Axolotl. Tamale or pudding.

“Early Mad Magazine loved the word axolotl.”
Absolutely, and I probably haven’t heard the term since those days. Good memory!

Approx. 5’ 3” long, 110 pounds.
I do not like cramped spaces so you should probably get me a good sized tank.
[and I want one of those nifty ‘privacy cave’ thingies they sell too, please]....8:)

Axolotls used to be plentiful in Louisiana, but the Coonasses ate them into extinction.
