My husband and I have been trying to get my husband's missing absentee ballot for weeks now. His home town is in the tank for Obama (city in Michigan) my husband usually votes Republican and his hometown is so small they know the absentee voters by name. Can you believe they finally sent my husbands ballot 10/31 and we received it today 11/3/08. I called the Clerk's office and she said it had to be there by 8pm 11/4. I gladly paid $16.50 to send my husband's ballot by 12pm tomorrow someone will have to sign for his mail and they BETTER count his vote.
Sue every last potentially guilty party for disenfranchisement and punative damages.
Teach the thugs every lesson possible where it hurts most—their ignorant greedy pocket books.
At least yours was delivered to your address.
I have had the Absentee ballots, for my spouse and I, sent out but never delivered to my home. I now have a PO Box. We voted over a week ago.
Good work! You seem to have made it just under the deadline - no thanks to the voting officials. It is folks like you going the extra mile to get that vote counted that gives me faith that this thing is going to turn out OK.
isn’t there also some sort of military ombudsman’s office that checks into such situations and goes to bat for the military personnel? I’d certainly contact them.
I might even ask the office of the CO to contact them.
There are also probably legal types on FR who’d be willing to write a poitned letter on legal office stationary to the officials involved.

My wonderful husband is the only conservative in his liberal Dem family, G-d bless them they are deluded. Plus Michigan is too cold AND I could not find any fresh collard greens when we went to visit.

Even if everything turns out okay with the absentee ballot, DO NOT LET THE MATTER DROP. Get Board of Elections involved (part of MI Sec o State).
