Ohio I.D. system down. computer overload.
me | now | me

Posted on 11/03/2008 10:09:33 AM PST by robomatik

Last night, while making sure everything was in order to vote on tuesday, I noticed my i.d. was expired. I headed downtown (in Cincinnati) to obtain a new i.d.

When I arrived, I was told that the system was down, and that it was impossible to obtain an i.d. of any sort.

Apparently, since I don't trust the absentee ballot process (thanks to ACORN), I will have to cast a provisional vote.

Don’t worryh....I’ve got a resident of MAssachusetts committing voter fraud by absentee voting in OH for Obama.....that should cover your vote.

...and I’m not joking. I’ve got a guy sitting right next to me that’s lived full-time in Mass with no expectation to ever return to OH...for 3+ years but illegally registers his car in OH to get the insurance break and voted absentee in OH.....for Obama.

All you need to do is show your expired ID and a current paycheck or utility bill with your correct address. Been there done that.

I’m surprised the RMV hasn’t noted his Ohio plates parked there for over a month. Drop a dime ... and I’m not joking. If you can’t get him for voting, get him for motor vehicle (and insurance, probably misstated the garaging) fraud.

in ohio, apparently, all you have to do is tell the poll worker the last four numbers of your social security #, and sign on the dotted line so they can verify your signature. i’m just nervous that i will have to deal with some ignorant obamatong supporter that won’t allow me to vote without my “papers” being in order. i’m thinking of going to the polling station with a video camera to make sure there are no irregularities. aargh!

IMMEDIATELY tell the poll workers that you are contacting the Republican Party, and the Republican Party Lawyers because you believe it is deliberate tampering. And that you will be filing a formal complaint for having to use a provisional ballot and you believe it is so that they can commit vote fraud.

no! i looked at my license last night and noticed that it was expired. i don’t need a bmv drone to tell me that my license is out of date.

Well I live in Ohio too, and last year my husbands license had our old addy on it. He drove home, got the cable bill and voted. No way was he doing a provisional. They only get counted if it’s close.

In Ohio, as long as the ID is current the address does not need to be. Your husband would have been fine.

No way was he doing a provisional. They only get counted if it’s close.

Untrue, but a popular rumor.

Judging from your original post, you made it sound like you went to the BMV last night. I'm guessing it was today.

Ummm, no. ID was current, just old address. He had to show a second piece of ID with the correct address. He had to drive home and get it and come back. Now as far as provisionals, they are not counted until the info on them is verified, which is after the original “unprovisional” votes are counted. They are then only checked if there is enough to change the outcome. Not arguing, just happen to have been in the situation last year.

The poll worker was wrong, then. The most he should have had to do in that situation is provide last 4 digits of SSN. Ohio law is very clear on this.

The only current ID that requires a current address is a military ID in Ohio.

Is this another "ploy" by the Dems to disenfranchise legal voters?

Be prepared! Tell your friends about this to check their licenses and tell them to bring approved backup I.D. (utility bill, etc.) to the polls.

Remember this is Ohio, the newest state of confusion. No matter.. take an extra ID, or two or three. Better to be safe than sorry.
