My ex mil would fry them in bacon grease. Soooo good! lol
ROTFLMAO!
He recognized different humans on sight and reacted to each differently. He was very loving to me- very- but aggressive at different levels of intensity to other people. Strangers, forget it. He was attack squirrel
He figured out my dogs couldn't get to him behind a glass door and taunted them unmercifully.
He had his own body language, and squirrel language making sounds with his tail and whiskers and claws
He trained himself to the litter box
He learned how to “open” doors- sat on the door knobs
He differentiated between food and treats just like a kid-would beg for dessert even if regular food was there
Peanuts! We boxed over them- loved to hid them in my shirt and he went looking for them and then we played “just TRY to take this one away”
But mostly he was my baby and trusted me completely. He
was one of the most loving animals I ever met. It was very hard to take him to a wildlife refuge but it was his only hope to grow up and stay healthy. I had him for 5 months.
We used to feed the squirrels and our dog would just sit quietly by the patio door watching them for hours and hours as if it was TV. He learned the words "squirrel" and "feed the squirrels" and this was his main indoor entertainment. But every once in a while a squirrel would come too close to the door and he would get very upset.
Time to come to grips with reality:
Squirrels do not chew on wires, roof rats do. Get traps and poison.
Some are looking for squirrel recipes.
“Time to come to grips with reality: Squirrels do not chew on wires, roof rats do.”
You are quite wrong. I called an exterminator and as soon as he saw the wires he said, “Squirrels.” He went up in the attic and there were about 7 or 8 nesting. In their nests were pieces of insulation. We got rid of the squirrels with traps, patched the holes, and had the wire replaced, No problems since.
We have a big barn cat that tries to kill everything around. One day I saw a tailless squirrel crossing the driveway and the cat had a new toy.
Years ago I and three men I was stationed with went on a week end hunting trip. The old boy from west Virgina was the one that used the shake and bake way. I shot a squirrel, one guy shot a rabbit and another a pheasant. We fried them all together, boy that was good.
All you people need to remember to let squirrel and rabbit soak over night in salt water, before cooking.
