Yet another reason why I hate Apple more than I hate Microsoft.

Isn't this General Chat? I've always been an Apple user and find this predicament rather interesting. It's also reassuring to know that OTHERS have these types of computer problems.

Buy one of these... you won't have to worry about software problems.

Use System restore to restore your PC to a time before the installation of Quicktime.

Then, download and install a program called "Quicktime Alternative". It does what Quicktime does with no Apple software of any kind.

“Is your computer on? If so unplug it.”

I used to think that was stupid advice but I unplugged mine and it never bothers me anymore. Computers are crap and people should learn to live without them.

Use VLC Media Player.

Better than Quicktime and plays multiple types of files including *.mov files.

I'm wondering who died and left you in charge. I did visit Comrade Google's site and got the hundreds of thousand of hits you seemed to have noticed. I looked at the first two or three and they were either things I had already done and/or things I deemed dangerous or useless. So I thought I would try my friends at FreeRepublic. Since you seem not be be among them, maybe you would please just ignore my posts in the future?

(And maybe you didn't notice but there were a couple of bump/pings before your haughty response. These tend to be an indication of interest from other FReepers. Maybe you belong eleswhere?)

Restore is the best way to un-do stuff that you foolishly did. Just set your machine’s configuration to yesterday.

Another extremely annoying program is the Real Media Player, an obnoxious spyware delivery system for playing .ram files.

A far better alternative is the “Media Player Classic”, free download here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli2/

It never, ever calls home.
