We'll know early Tuesday night.

Posted on 11/01/2008 6:31:08 AM PDT by wny

It'll be decided early. Best case, NH goes McCain. I think he's well liked there. He nearly lived there during the primaries, both in '00 and '08. This would be insurance (less 1 EV) against losing NM. If he holds NC, which I'm not to worried about, and VA, which is iffy, he's in good shape. I think it all comes down to PA and OH. If he he holds VA, NC and flips PA, I think Obie is toast. If he flips PA, OH will stay. It's not likely that the momentum and closing in PA will happen in a vacuum. If he's gaining in PA, he'll gain in OH. And IN.

If VA, NC, OH and PA go McCain, it might be a pretty good night and he may flip IA as well.

On the other hand, if VA or NC go communist, McCain must hold OH AND flip PA. If VA and NC go, party's over, it'll be a rout.

I think it'll all come down to PA. Unfortunatley, it'll be like Florida in 2000. If McCain wins, it'll be by the skin of his teeth. Look for recounts until the dems find enough votes to win (a repeat of the WA gov election in 06), and lawsuits of course. Screams of disenfranchisement of minorities - even with 110% turnout. Probably riots in Philly and Pittsburg hoods.

And look for the MSMorons to clamor for McCain to concede so calm can be restored. And he probably will. It'll be the "honorable" thing for him to do.

I've been saying for the last two weeks non-stop that McCain/Palin will win PA and hence the election. It will happen!

That's been my fear in a close election for a while. If there is doubt and Obama releases the goon squad to riot and burn, McCain will concede. It will be the PERFECT ending to his career.

Count on a very late night and possibly more time than that to decide this election.

Remember that in 2004, Ohio was not called until the next day.

Small item of correction: it was in '04, not '06.

We in Washington have been living with her for four years. Four long years. Four LONG, FRUSTRATING, ANGER-GENERATING YEARS!!!!. FOUR...

...'Scuse me...

I'm calm now. Let's just say "Enough is enough".

Good point, to see how some of the states in the Eastern Time Zone go. Some may go late into the night, but others (like the ones you mentioned) could be called early, and how they go could indicate a pattern.

We'll know by Wednesday afternoon at the earliest, mid-December by the latest.

The race will come down to Ohio, again, and there will be confrontation over the provisional ballots.

I think it will be Weds. before we know as PA is the key and it will be too close to call until Weds.

I also think it will be best 2 out of 3 with the three being VA, PA and Colorado. Win 2 of these and you are potus.

I am worried, not that I think anything will happen in East Tennessee - part of the the reddest of the red. But midnight in the East is 9 pm in Watts and Compton. If McCain looses, celebratory demonstrations will get out of control. McCain wins, protest demonstrations will get out of control.

We in Washington have been living with her for four years

I lived in the Evergreen State from '75 - '84, Kirkland, then Spokane, and back to Woodinville. I never could understand why Washington State goes so heavily for liberal views.

I love the politics of the places like Forks, Packwood, and all of the Inland Empire.

And there are so many pro-military types in Pierce county, near Ft. Lewis and McChord.

It must just be the Latte lovers.

WA State, I love you guys, but when are you going to get a spine and learn to fight the corruption in your state.

Y'know, I might have enjoyed seeing that, but I haven't watched See-BS for so long, it never occurred to me to switch to them that night. If it's going McCain's way Tuesday, I'll try to cycle through all the stations. I took Wednesday off to recover either way.

I vigorously disagree. McCain would see conceding as rewarding violent and thuggish behavior, which would only encourage more such behavior in the future, no matter what the issue.

I do agree however that if Obama somehow loses ( which I really don’t think will happen) there will be serious riots in the streets. The USA is quickly becoming like some 3rd world toilet of a country .

I can’t recall if returns from the East Coast are held up till the voting booths have close across the country. I know exit polls are not released. Is this the case?

The different state and county election results come out whenever they do. The exit polls are the only things that the networks (sort of) agreed not to release until all polls in the Lower 48 have closed...which is 11pm Eastern.

I’ll predict a projected winner (if it looks like it’s going the way the Enemedia want) by 8pm Eastern.
