C-130 vs F-16 (with neat video link)

A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by.
The jet jockey decided to show off.
The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, 'watch this!' and promptly went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb. He then finished with a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. The F-16 pilot asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that?
The C-130 pilot said, 'That was impressive, but watch this!' The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130 Pilot came back on and said: 'What did you think of that?'
Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, 'What the heck did you do?...'
The C-130 pilot chuckled. 'I stood up, stretched my legs, walked to the back, went to the bathroom, then got a cup of coffee and a Cinnamon bun.'
When you are young & foolish - speed & flash may seem a good thing !!!
When you get older & smarter - comfort & dull is not such a bad thing !!!
Just because Hercules is huge, slow and lumbering, doesn't mean he isn't bad!
What the Hercules, C-130 can do.

When I was in the USAF back in the early 1960s, the only USAF planes I rode were the venerable C-121 and C-124. Then as a civilian DOD employee, I rode C-130s into and out of Vietnam and Panama, C-141s all over South America and even piloted a C-12 for about 20 minutes over the Saudi desert. My daughter was on a 4-month deployment to CENTCOM forward at Al Udeid AB in Qatar, and rode C-130s abd C-17s in and out of Afghanistan. The torch has been passed to the next generation.

Appreciate your good thoughts, sir. I’ve only been to McGuire once. Back in 1963, when I returned from a PCS to Italy, I was separated from active duty at McGuire. I don’t remember much about the base except that it was host to the second worst chow hall in the Air Force, the worst being at Wake Island.

Any 3rd-world fighter jock would know: shoot one missle to make the flares go. Then shoot the 2nd and 3rd and 4th missle. Realistically? A Third-world fighter wouldn't get within a hundred miles of the 130: our own fighter jocks are occasionally useful.

The AC-130 video showed the aircraft SALVOING their flares.
(hundreds of them). You only do that when you know you are going to make a crash landing, photo op for publicity or if the maintenance folks want to replace all the flare buckets at the same time. Your third world pilot doesn't have enough IR missiles in his warehouse to use up the defensive flare BURSTS the threatened aircraft is capable of putting out.
