German police seek speeding British Muppet
Daily Star News ^ | Sunday, October 26, 2008 | Andy Lea

German traffic police have been left looking like proper muppets by a British prankster. An Audi TT with British registration plates has been repeatedly caught speeding on roads in the Bavarian city of Bayreuth. But because continental speed cameras are set up for left-hand drive vehicles, the cameras keep missing the driver’s face.

Instead, they keep capturing clear views of a manic Muppet-like toy which the cheeky Brit has propped up on his passenger seat. But police admit they are even baffled about the identity of the muppet.

Sometimes, the answer to living in a police state is just to put a muppet in your car.

I have a old right-hand drive jag.

Bit hard to shift, but I may have to get it out of the garage more.

“Prepair to buy oil by the case and get another car to use when the Lucas electrics flame out.”

Mrs. MWT has a 2005 Jaguar XJ8 supercharged. Best sedan ever owned. Never dropped a drop of oil, never a problem. 150K miles.

Her S-Type before that, similar experience.

The new 4.2 V8 is an amazing beast.

Jag changed dramatically 10 years ago.

LOL! Standard features on all British cars ... oil leaks and electrical fires. I resorted to using hand signals in my '71 Spitfire after blowing out the flames in the steering column sparked by the left turn signal. Right turn was fine ... go figure. And it was a good thing that I could see straight down into the gas tank as the gauge never dipped below 1/2.

2005? That’s a Forduar. Good old fashioned American engineering must’ve stopped the leaks.
