The choice of Romney would have sent the conservative base running away from McCain faster than you can say RINO.
For those who say that Romney has been against Palin, I heard him speak last week and he was very complimentary of Governor Palin and her ability to excite the Republican base. He also talked about the improvement in fundraising since she joined the ticket. Did not seem at all bitter or negative.
If you put lipstick on a turd, it's still a turd!
Palin should say at her next rally that McCain should have picked Romney because he is so smart and super-neat. What?
Well, it worked for the opposition a.k.a The Communists. :)
I think you could say that, actually.... What people are forgetting is there is a whole lot of us who applaud one of our own going rogue.... that was one thing we loved about Reagan and, like Sarah, he instinctively knew what to say when.
So what does he do??? he is out trying to help congressional candidates and he is not doing what would help the party win by campaigning in Michigan and Utah and we are close in both states... and suddenly the Salt Lake Tribune endorses Obama.... that's a joke, right!!!! In UTAH!!!! Obama.... bawwwwwaaaaaaaa couldn't have been more obvious if they tried.. You want to see how much this is hurting Palin??? just check the live thread right here for her rally coming up in VA... packed house!!!!!...
Romney’s a Country Club GOPer - wealthy son of a wealthy father. No guns and Bibles for him, thank you.
He’s going to be one of Barry’s token GOPers. Actually, I hope he’s going to be cast on the ash-heap of history, because I don’t think Barry is going to win, no matter how many traitors he recruits.
National Review endorsed Romney in late 2007. Recently I ran across an issue from early 2008 analyzing why he lost. Their explanation was that he lacked the human touch--he'd give clinical answers when people were expecting some human warmth.
In 2012, if the 'Rats are in the White House, Romney will have some formidable rivals for the nomination--such as Palin and Jindal, perhaps others who aren't even being talked about yet. I'd vote for Samuel J. Wurzelbacher before Romney.
Now that you mention, Kathleen was a Romneybot wasn’t she? Well, there we go.
The wind never blows his hair like it does Sarah’s.
Yeah, two rich white guys would really generate some excitement. These guys are in Romney dreamland. Keep it up Mitt and you won’t get nominated Republican Dogcatcher.
Pray for W, McCuda and Our Troops
What you said about Romney is important. I'm a New Yorker, although now I live in Florida (not retired, I just moved away and I like the ocean) but while I loved what Giuliani did about crime, etc. and I loved the way he dealt with 9/11, he was very liberal on social issues, such as gay "marriage" and abortion, which are important to me. If the GOP had selected him, I simply wouldn't have voted.
However, Giuliani knew how to sort out the things that were important to him (I'll hazard a guess and say free enterprise and Constitutional rights) and put them in perspective
Romney either didn't or couldn't, and I'd say he's probably out there right now negotiating with the Dems to capture Utah for them. He'll probably be Treasury Secretary under Barry O.
Great post!!!
How are you? I haven’t seen you for many moons!
What is the point of this right now?
Spoiler much?
We have 8 days to defeat a Marxist revolution.
Me too! I am SO GRATEFUL that McCain skipped Romney as VP pick and went with Palin instead. Thank you, Lord!
That's no surprise at all and there's nothing nefarious there -- the SL Trib is a VERY liberal paper. People don't understand that the urban core SLC is just a small part (maybe 10%) of the state's population (talking about the city itself, not the much larger metro area). The recent Mayor of SLC, the loathsome Rocky Anderson, is one of the nuttier drooling moonbats to have been in a prominent office..... think of Dennis Kookcinich and you'll have the idea.
SLC "proper" is only around 200,000 pop. and is the highly liberal urban core of a far larger metro area. It's not like other metro areas where the boundaries extend for 15, 20 miles or more. The SL Trib is so consistently liberal I have barely picked it up in years. I pay no attention to their endorsements but I would only be surprised if they ever endorsed a Republican.
