christopher lee does continue to make movies, he is over 80 I believe. Not sure how old Ian McKlellan is, but I believe he remains booked as well. As far as I know they both only do movies, though.
What is most interesting about shatner is the variety of projects he is involved in. The man has fingers in like half a dozen areas/projects, remains active in television, etc. Professionally, there is a lot to admire there.

My theory on Shatner, is that after Star Trek, he didn't work for a while. Or did crappy stuff like Parana. Anyway once he got back on top with the Star Trek films, he was a mission to never be down and out again. As you say he got involved in all sorts of projects. And made himself a ton of cash. And even though he's fat and out of shape, he still looks good for an 80 year old. So I would suspect we'll see him in stuff for years to come. As for Takei, wish him will. But he should stop trying to elevate himself by crapping on shatner. That's all I can remember him for after Star Trek.

Believe it or not, Shatner's last album "Has Been" was excellent and featured guests like Joe Jackson, Aimee Mann, Henry Rollins and Brad Paisley. It was produced by Ben Folds.
And people always think I'm joking when I tell them that the single from that album, "Common People" is one of the best songs of the decade. But it is.
Here's a video of it, with Ben Folds on keyboards and Joe Jackson singing with Shatner. It seriously kicks ass.
