I’d like to believe that but many of the power elites in this country no longer view the US Constitution as any kind of impediment to their plans. ...think gun confiscations after Hurricane Katrina for one.

Unless it is a liberal president who will get what he wants from a liberal Supreme Court, who will find what they want in made-up emanations and penumbrae of the Constitution.

Only if it's obeyed and enforced. That's not going to happen in either a McCain or an Obama adminstration. Obama will ignore the second amendment, as McCain has ignored the first. (IIRC, while he's better than The One, he's still not all that great on the second either.)
