The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has ordered his fans to stop sending him fanmail.
The drummer says he's got "too much to do" and warns he'll throw any fanmail in the bin after October 20 in a video posted on his website.
"This is a serious message to everybody watching," Starr says in the clip.
"I want to tell you that after the 20th of October please do not send any fanmail to any address you have. If that is the date on the envelope, it's gonna be tossed.
"I'm warning you with peace and love, I have too much to do. So no more fanmail. Thank you. No more objects to be signed. Nothing."
It's not clear whether the wealth of fanmail was trigger by 'Brush With Greatness', the 1991 episode of 'The Simpsons' Starr appeared in where he vows to answer every bit of post he recieved from fans, including answering Marge Simpson's question that "Yes, in England we do have French Fries, but we call them chips!"
For your celebrity ping list.
Ringo Starr is still alive???
Oh yeah, that guy that replaced Pete Best.
.... He has fans?
Who the heck is writing to Ringo?
boo hoo. I’ve been warning the junk mailers for years to no avail.
He’s tired of all the Obama solicitations.
He’s 68 years old...... what the hell does he have to do that is so important?
Ain’t that the truth.
Now now...be fair...his 70’s album “Beaucoups of Blues” was...was...ah, never mind
That’s a good question, because he hasn’t done it yet!
Hes 68 years old...... what the hell does he have to do that is so important?Enjoy the last 10 or so years of his life?
oh yeah, I forgot all about that iconic work.
OK Ringo, I’ll sure miss sending you post cards and boxes of chocolates, but you da man, so whatever you say ...
LOL ... what a putz.
Well, there was his movie "Caveman".
Uh, never mind.
Isn’t he where he is (or was) because of ‘fans’? Where would his talent or talents (he did have some, I guess — or did he?) have gone without fans?
ACORN keeps bugging him to register and vote in Ohio.
This may be a good time to promote my forthcoming book about the Beatles (among many other things), in which I demonstrate and cite reliable sources which claim that Ringo did not play on Beatles records, and, at the insistence of George Martin himself, was replaced during recording sessions by professional studio drummers (all except one unknown outside studio musicians’ circles), one of whom was... yes, that Pete Best!
I hope his hired help throws EVERYTHING out — his bills, his cheques, and other important stuff.... that way he can be delayed in sending his payments in on time....
I think that most of his serious work centered on bottles of Jack Daniels.
