How would this be for kids ages 7 and 9? We’re having a hard time getting a babysitter.
...the theme is unconditional love....
..and God is exhalted...
There are two instances of children in peril...but it's handled well..
.....maybe early teens would be better for viewing....7 or 9 might get anxious...not sure.
I saw it and I think they’d be very bored.
Also, some of the reason this is so successful is some people are not aware of what type of movie they’re going to see. I was in the theatre and heard many people saying “I didn’t know this was a religious movie!” “I can’t believe I paid $10 to see a religious movie.” Things like that. I saw several looking for a manager when the movie was over and they were commenting to each other that they felt “ripped off”.
I’m not saying it wouldn’t be successful in it’s own right, but the firefighter thing and floundering marriage led these ladies behind me to believe they were seeing something like a movie where he almost died and then they put their lives back together, etc. etc.
It’s about marriage, and there is some fighting in it. Other themes in it will go right over their heads, but all in all I’d say it’s more appropriate for Mom and Dad.
From what I’ve seen, there’s nothing inappropriate for kids in it, but they’d likely be pretty bored in parts. If possible, get them tickets to see something like The Express - that’s a great family-friendly movie, the most inappropriate thing in it is some heavy making out, but the racism and associated violence can get kinda intense - or Beverly Hills Chihuahua or City of Ember, depending on their preferences, while you go see this.
