I saw it and I think they’d be very bored.
Also, some of the reason this is so successful is some people are not aware of what type of movie they’re going to see. I was in the theatre and heard many people saying “I didn’t know this was a religious movie!” “I can’t believe I paid $10 to see a religious movie.” Things like that. I saw several looking for a manager when the movie was over and they were commenting to each other that they felt “ripped off”.
I’m not saying it wouldn’t be successful in it’s own right, but the firefighter thing and floundering marriage led these ladies behind me to believe they were seeing something like a movie where he almost died and then they put their lives back together, etc. etc.
Well, not one of the reviews or articles have failed to mention the religious theme, so they just didn’t do their homework, I guess. Even if the Christian message were not part of it, though, the fundamentals in this movie are so good, and I guarantee the idea of serving your spouse without selfishness is a new one to many people. It will, hopefully, be a turning point for many marriages.
