This is all about OLED technology. This will be a very big deal in a very few years. It will revolutionize HDTV and eventually eliminate the standard light bulb. An interesting read on current progress which includes an expensive but practical 11” TV made by Sony. It’s coming for sure but it will be a few years.

I read about this a while back. You can put a sheet of this on the ceiling and have light evenly dispersed across a room. Lots of other excellent application.
