Many good choices. Two overlooked films -

One, Two, Three - James Cagney's last film before he came back for a bit part in Ragtime. He plays a Coke executive in West Germany whose US boss is coming to pay him a visit while his daughter is in love with an East German commie. Extremely funny!

Operation Mad Ball - starring Jack Lemmon, Mickey Rooney, Ernie Kovacs, Dick York, Arthur O'Connell. Completely funny from beginning to end.

I like James Cagney in Blonde Crazy (a grifter comedy from the 1930s). Pre-code hollywood with the sinning they would later have to cut. I see where Warner Bros. got the wiseguy character for Bugs Bunny.
