In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
tautology, [taw-tol-uh-jee], noun
1. needless repetition of an idea, esp. in words other than those of the immediate context, without imparting additional force or clearness, as in widow woman.
2. an instance of such repetition.
3. Logic. a. a compound propositional form all of whose instances are true, as A or not A.
b. an instance of such a form, as This candidate will win or will not win.
Example sentence:
Taranto's Best of the Web always includes News of the Tautological.
Etymology:
Origin: 1579, from L.L. tautologia "representation of the same thing" (c.350), from Gk. tautologia, from tautologos "repeating what has been said," from tauto "the same" + -logos "saying," related to legein "to say".
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
A+ for you. I wish the MSM would at least mention the CORN scandals, with their usual nothing to see here attitude.
I caught the A in ACORN right before it posted but was too late.
when yunz start BOOing each other down in your parts?
Sorry, I only have them for 1, 2, and 3. If you find a good 4th place ribbon graphic, I’d be happy to add it to my collection.
I’m surprised it hasn’t started already. I hope it skips us this year. If I buy Halloween candy now, I’ll be out again within the week.
i found little tiny bags of sourpatch kids and swedish fish at Target. swedish fish are xshub’s fave seafood! ; )
they are a part of his healthy eating strategy : )
Jelly beans are the only beans I’ll eat. Are those fishy things anything like Hot Tamales? They are my favorite movie candy.
swedish fish are a cherry flavored seafood, not cinnamon ; )
oh and they are FAT FREE ; )
The MSM often repeats false “tautologies”, but are actually practicing “looseology” with the facts...
You can get them in graple, too.
(That’s grape + purple)
i haven’t seen graple ones, there are some multicolored ones, which IMO are not as good. there are also the teeny sized ones, that are like minnows : )
I’m pretty sure we got a box of them as Sam’s Club once.
some new species, obv.... ; )
