After media smeared and suppressed any opposition to the "the glorious leader" and helped the totalitarian regime come to power, the payback will be is not what they expect. A very few will become annoyed ones; the rest of them will remember smelly plane and insulting treatment as good old days and the previous administration as paradise lost.

Their role will be reduced to a sitting at the proverbial kitchen table and ranting impotently while hoping that nobody overhear them and report to the authorities.

As for us, they will not get even a "I told you so". If history is any guidance, those who carried water and facilitated totatlitarinists coming to power do not become even infamous; their names are just wiped out off people's memory. That's very true. I think the media is not going to get smart fast enough. The ones who really were useful idiots will be silenced or disappeared, but there will also be a core that will be just fine, thank you, and will thrive under the new regime of repression and fear. There always are.
