In politics, everything that goes around comes around.
With all due respect to a brave CBS reporter, "coming around" will not be what he meant. After media smeared and suppressed any opposition to the "the glorious leader" and helped the totalitarian regime come to power, the payback will be is not what they expect. A very few will become annoyed ones; the rest of them will remember smelly plane and insulting treatment as good old days and the previous administration as paradise lost.
Their role will be reduced to a sitting at the proverbial kitchen table and ranting impotently while hoping that nobody overhear them and report to the authorities.
As for us, they will not get even a "I told you so". If history is any guidance, those who carried water and facilitated totatlitarinists coming to power do not become even infamous; their names are just wiped out off people's memory. At best they are treated as faceless mob of, in generous Lenin's words, useful idiots.

I think the media is not going to get smart fast enough. The ones who really were useful idiots will be silenced or disappeared, but there will also be a core that will be just fine, thank you, and will thrive under the new regime of repression and fear. There always are.
