I have been going to grad school to obtain that ever so elusive Master’s Degree, but the one class I needed this fall was not offered. I was advised to sit this semester out and do some work on my thesis. One problem: I have yet to come up with my thesis topic. I feel like I will be 80 years old before I finally get that degree!!

Hang in there! I’m surprised that you’ve gotten so far w/o a topic - is your adviser helping you at all?

If I can give you some advice, don’t try to do too much. Students often want to show how much they know and want to throw in everything. A narrow topic makes a better thesis and takes some pressure off of the student.

Remember - the idea is to get out of the program and do whatever the grad degree is training you to do. Don’t make your thesis your life’s work.
