Amen! It's so frustrating that there are people are on here abusing the priveledge of the forum to bash or attack others just to make themselves feel or seem important or powerful. Too many self-appointed or wanna-be mods, ever quick to reach out to the real ones with cries of "troll", hoping to witness yet another zotting. A few times it's seemed liked an old west town hungry for a hanging, with half the townsfolk out trying to find someone to hang. Uh-oh, now I've done it, better put on the asbestos underwear...
The puffery associated with signup dates is less than attractive. Little drives me as nuts as the ‘noob’ name calling.
I’ve found that some of the newer FReepers have introduced really interesting material and perspectives, while I swear there are a few who signed up in the early days only to drop the occasional lob against conservatives of conviction. Recently there was a thread where a ‘noob’ was told to show respect for another post done by one of those bomb throwers simply because the latter had seniority. One would think that on a board such as this, content rather than longevity would be given weight.
This place is a great place for news, and I donated a bit to help keep it running. However, if I can’t back up the ‘herd’ view here, I don’t bother to comment. Too many buttheads who are just like the DUers and wish to suppress any thought that isn’t theirs, and unfortunately, some of them are either mods or have a good ‘in’ with a mod.
So, I come here and read the news, then I go somewhere else and discuss it in a place I don’t have to deal with random assholes calling me a troll because I’m not a ‘pure’ enough conservative for them.
Thanks for the site, Jim Robinson. I know you can’t be everywhere to watch everything at once and stuff slips through the cracks sometimes. I’ve moderated a forum elsewhere (game, not political) for the past seven years myself.
