I’m taking my wife, my daughters and my parents to it Monday. We’ve been waiting for this one!
Given that I live in the “Not So Free State of Maryland”, but that I do live near a big military base and given the number of McCain-Palin signs in my area, I’m thinking it should do pretty well.
I’ll report back with attendance and observations and my review.
Some zingers went by me, too, because I couldn’t hear them. Either I am going deaf or the sound was not good. I saw it at an all-digital theatre.

Sadly, some of the parody was so true that I'd get pissed at the scene.
Live in western PA and the prices were reduced {for all movies} to $ 4.50. A small coke was $3.90, the water fountain didn't work so I waited and drank beer at the Vets.
Husband and I saw it today. I loved it! Small crowd at the movie/bar/restaurant where we saw it. But everyone burst out in laughter all the way through the movie.
I want to go see it again. I want to buy the dvd so I can own my own copy. Loved it!
You will probably find the audience for American Carol a lot more polite than the average. I don’t usually go to movies for the same reasons but found it so last night.

Took my HS and college aged kids to see it today. They enjoyed it very much. There were silly scenes, cryptic scenes, and a couple of very touching scenes. I did have to explain a few things (What’s the ACLU?), but it gave me the chance.
My older son is a religion major in a Baptist college, and has been told that if he attends the Bill Maher movie and writes a paper, he’ll get some extra credit. I find it a strange assignment, but one must learn to defend their faith from that kind of assault.
In my town, the two major local theaters are both part of the same chain, and one of them is playing Religulous and one is playing American Carol... I guess the people in charge figured that the audiences would be willing to drive the extra 15 minutes if the movie they wanted to see wasn’t in the closer theater so it wasn’t worth showing both movies at both locations. Sadly, the theater I have (public) transportation to is the one showing Religulous, and the one showing American Carol is the one I can’t get to =’( and my liberal friends would even go with me and pay too see it, because they dislike Micheal Moore and Bill Maher that much.
