Now "The Factor" has called on SEC Chairman Christopher Cox to resign, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd to quit, and House Finance Chief Barney Frank to step down from his position. That's because for the past two years, Frank and his committee oversaw Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac two government sponsored lending agencies which pretty much are bankrupt.
Congressman Frank was asked about Freddie and Fannie on July 14, 2008:
...REP. BARNEY FRANK, D-MASS.: I think this is a case where Fannie and Freddie are fundamentally sound, that they are not in danger of going under. They're not the best investments these days from the long-term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward.
They're in a housing market. I do think their prospects going forward are very solid. And in fact, we're going to do some things that are going to improve them.

O'REILLY: Well, obviously, that statement turned out not to be true.
Joining us now from Washington is Congressman Frank. And we appreciate you coming in, being a standup guy, but shouldn't everybody in the country be angry with you right now?
FRANK: No. You've misrepresented this consistently. ,,,

I’m still have not heard what Christopher Cox did wrong.
let the GOP run snippets of this as ad for who the folks are that are resposible for this mess.
John McPain would hardly “approve of this message”.
It's more gentlemanly to not mention these BIG ISSUES.
There must be respect for the office as well. Frank has not had that respect for years and it is time he was exposed. Any investigation by his cronies would enter a black hole never to be seen again.
I saw that last night and I couldn’t believe it! He excoriated Frank! More sanctimoniuos, unaccountable politicians should get that treatment!
I’m tempted to say he caught Fwank with his pants down, but I don’t think I will.
Where's the Cap'n Obvious gif?
Frank and the other people who put the screws to Freddie and Fannie now have that kind of “oversight” over just about everything.
Have a nice day! :D
This video boils down to an idiot yelling at a scoundrel.
I agree. I watched that and my wife and I both thought that Bill O managed to do the impossible: make Barney Frank sound rational.
No respect is due the detestable swine Frank, not directly nor reflected.
What really ticks me off is Pelosi saying that Franks will be holding hearings to determine what went wrong, and then, she goes on to lay the blame on business executives and greedy Wall Street types.
She seems to be using Stalin’s play book here—show trials with foreordained conclusions.
President Bush should appoint an independent commission to investigate this whole mess or, as sure as God made Democrats to test the faith of the righteous, Republicans are going to get saddled with the blame.
Frank abused his office. He needs to be called out on it and investigated/forced to resign. We don’t need this crap and it was obvious he was trying to filibuster and lie, then he pouts like the immature little boy he is when he’s caught.
He doesn’t deserve any respect.
I guess you might be right, but I think a little bit of righteous indignation is called for in the case of Barney Frank.. O’Reilly said it for me.. I thank him for that.
But, but, Bill’s lookin out for you....
Republican propensity for gentlemanliness is what got us in this fix.
I found O’Reilly’s indignation refreshing. Too bad he didn’t pull out a few more examples of Franks efforts to cover for Fan and Fred.
You know, the only attention Franky got was from this. IT TOOK THIS TO GET ANY ATTENTION AT ALL!!! Of course it did not look good. But at least maybe the uninformed may notice it.
Perhaps. However, irrational ranting an screaming by an idiot like O'Riely isn't going to do accomplish that. On the contrary, as another Freeper pointed out, it makes Frank look like the more reasonable of the two.
As much as I detest Frank, any intellectually honest person must admit that he had the better of the exchange.
