What a nice idea.. I think I will do it too, and I am going to put it as a gift from Sarah Palin.

My wife and I are as well. It’s so refreshing to hear about a group taking an appropriate stand for once.

We already do that - but good advice for anyone!

Excellent idea. Turning that which is otherwise bad ~ into somethig that can be used for good!

It might be nice if the event could find a replacement with someone such as Victoria Jackson.

"Bernhard said she's "terribly upset" that the shelter cut her act from its annual benefit.

Boo friggin' Hoo! She thinks "she" is upset? I hope their shelter is flooded with more donations than mine - more than they can count - so that they won't be tempted to have her on next year! Even without the gang-rape comments, her diatribe against Palin was uber-low-class

I didn’t see where this was a pro-Palin stand. I only see the shelter objects to using gang rape as a humor prop. While others are free to contribute and I wouldn’t say it was inappropriate, anyone contributing with the thought the shelter is pro-Palin has little evidence for it. That said, I do support the local women’s shelter.

I don’t care if they are pro-Palin!! That’s not the point. They did the right thing in dropping Bernhard...they’re personal political leanings are of no concern to me. That is NOT why I made the donation. They are a battered womans shelter which is a noble cause regardless of one’s politics in my humble opinion. I also donate to our local woman’s shelter and don’t concern myself with who’s “side” they are on. Same when I donate to NAMI!

I didn’t imply you or the shelter was wrong. I just wrote that it does not appear the reason for disinviting Ms. Bernhard had anything to do with supporting Palin. You can support whatever shelters you wish and God will bless you for it. I personally would want to know a little more about the shelter before contributing.

When I called them today to get their mailing address they said the reason they disinvited her was simply that Bernhard’s comments were way out of line.
