McCain was always a long shot.
He never had the support of the party base and the MSM is clearly in the tank for Obama, they dont even bother to try to hide it anymore. But after his lunatic preachers rants slipped out past the MSM, Obie was weakened, clearly indicated by Clintons strong stretch run. I maintain that if Obama was white, the super delegates would have thrown him under the bus with his typical white grandmother. They couldnt do that without enraging the black vote, which they need 90% of to win.
So with all this, McCain stays within striking distance, 5 to 8% maybe. Then Obama makes a bigger fool of himself with his silly world tour, his faux-presidential seal and his Nuremburg-rally type acceptance speech. Then came the McCain camps stroke of brilliance. Sarah Palin. Introducing her the day after Obies speech knocked him off the front page and out of the news cycle. Everybody loved Sarah. The base came back (Im voting for Sarah!). Suddenly the polls were even. The viciousness of the Obama campaign started to show. The disgusting onslaught against her by the left-demholes and MSM (I repeat myself) generated a backlash to McCains benefit. Suddenly polls show McCain ahead, and it started to look like he could win this thing, despite the most unfavorable electoral environment facing a candidate since Carter sought reelection.
This was McCains high-water mark. Then .they let the demMSM set the agenda. They let them prattle on about how Palin was being hidden from the press to hide her inexperience. And they agree to interviews with Gibson, Couric, etc. Why not just let Howard Dean do the interview? There was no way that was not going to hurt. And they didnt let Sarah be Sarah, annoying the base that was re-energized. MSM onslaught continues.
Then came the financial mess. Suspending his campaign to come bask to DC and get to work! That worked out well. Nothing was passed, so the narrative is he couldnt get it done! The dems win. Now some pork-laden POS will pass. And the base will hate it. The dems win again. Andrew Cuomo? So-much for a reenergized base. Granted, the MSM will bash him whatever he does. And if Obama sits under his desk sucking his thumb, the MSM (Obies base) will laud his economic brilliance, supported by polls of course. All targeted at the moron-vote.
McCain had his chance and he blew it. In between suspending his campaign and getting to DC, he had the floor. He should have delivered a speech. Short and concise with bullet items. Spell out the problemFannie/Freddie, PC loans to the unqualified .. Name names ... Clinton hacks fleecing F&F for millions. Make the Enron analogy. Context the public understands. You might mention these same Clinton hacks are on Obamas team. Then quote yourself, show the video of yourself calling attention to this pending mess 3 years ago! Then quote and show videos of Dodd, Frank and other dems blowing it off as no-problem. Then maybe a mention that these 2 buffoons have accepted over $100K from F&F to look the other way. Then perhaps mention Obie in only 3 years has accepted nearly as much, over $100K. Thats a good set-up for the clean up DC talk.
He could have followed up with press conferences. First one might deal with the fact that the Republicans werent the obstacle. If it was such a good bill, the dems could pass it themselves! Then mention how Pelosi sabotaged the first vote and maybe mention that 95 (or whatever) dems voted against it, so the Rs didnt stop it. Maybe mention why his colleagues voted against it, recommend changes? The next press conference, maybe talk about the millions and millions of unrelated pork and subsidies being put into the new version-dovetails right into his stop-the-pork/earmarks-and-reduce-govt-spending talk. Would this have worked? Maybe not. The MSM would spin it against him no matter what. But go on offense for crying out loud.
Instead, he wanted to be honorable. Above the fray of petty partisan politics. What a fool. This isnt a 6th grade debating team. The dems are viscous and will do absolutely anything to win. McCain brought a water-pistol to a knife fight. To the dems, no issue is to important to politicize. They absolutely cleaned his clock on this. His numbers are dropping faster than the stock market.
Now McCain is hiding under his desk sucking his thumb. Four years of liberal hell begins Jan 20th.
A VAIN AND FATALISTIC VANITY!
Thank you, Blanche DuBois.
We have 33 days to go! The sky is not falling!
Judging from your previous posts, I think you are a Troll. Why not go over to DU, you might feel more at home?
Wow! Yet ANOTHER Vanity! Imagine that.
Have you donated to Free Republic this fund raiser?
If not, you are taking advantage of the generosity given to guests on FR by thinking your vanity is worth the bandwidth and storage space.
I hope they start reminding them about Wright and Ayers pretty soon. It’s already October. McCain needs to start punching again. I always try to be optimistic about the outcome of elections, but it’s getting harder and harder to keep the faith. I have the same feeling I had about this time before the 2006 elections. I can’t believe that people would actually vote for this guy, but who knows?
I do have one observation, though, that may be food for thought. If Obama had this commanding lead, then why are the Dems in various battleground states trying to steal the election? Maybe they fear that he’s not this shoo-in that the media is portraying him as being.
Come on...you don’t reeeeeeeeely think the Clintons & the Clintonistas are gonna vote for Obama now do ya...
it ruins Hillary’s plan to run in 2012 if Obama is elected POTUS.
Relax, my cat could beat Obama on 11/4. LMAO
Hudson: That's it man, game over man, game over! What the **** are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?
Burke: Maybe we could build a fire, sing a couple of songs, huh? Why don't we try that?
That’s what I mean by saying it’s become comical. Some freepers just like to vent and it’s starting to sound like a pre-recorded tape where the replay button is being hit constantly. Stay the course!
I wonder how many people who actually believe that McCain is going to win reside in nice, comfortable, conservative districts and states? Come to CA, specifically Silicon Valley (Santa Clara County), where less than 35% of the votes went for Bush in 2000 and 2004. All we have is the hope that the other states bail us out.
When I heard the exit polls in 2004, I was crushed, and it turned out that the all knowing elites were wrong.
McCain may very well lose. But I will be damned if I’m going to sit back and let the Marxist take over my country. Win or Lose I will never submit.
This thread needs the Captain Obvious graphic.
Honestly, both candidates are making a habit of trying to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory. It really will come down to who screws up last.
How did you find out about his water-pistol?
Wait until November 5th to write anything like this. 4 1/2 weeks is a long time in politics.
You know nothing of my character. It’s my opinion. Agree. Disagree. But I was hoping for some thoughtful responses, perhaps an intelligent response.
My prayer is he was holding his ammo until after the agreement/bailout. Now he’ll let both barrels rip as he moves on to prevent a FUTURE occurance like this.
If he pulls it off he could have just the right timing. He didn’t want to do a pelosi and sour talks, but now that the band-aid is in place it’s time to get to the root cause....the root cause is (do what was suggested by the TC).
