HOW McCAIN LOST IT

Posted on 10/02/2008 7:54:48 AM PDT by wny

McCain was always a long shot.

He never had the support of the party base and the MSM is clearly in the tank for Obama, they don’t even bother to try to hide it anymore. But after his lunatic preacher’s rants slipped out past the MSM, Obie was weakened, clearly indicated by Clinton’s strong stretch run. I maintain that if Obama was white, the super delegates would have thrown him under the bus with his typical white grandmother. They couldn’t do that without enraging the black vote, which they need 90% of to win.

So with all this, McCain stays within striking distance, 5 to 8% maybe. Then Obama makes a bigger fool of himself with his silly world tour, his faux-presidential seal and his Nuremburg-rally type acceptance speech. Then came the McCain camp’s stroke of brilliance. Sarah Palin. Introducing her the day after Obies speech knocked him off the front page and out of the news cycle. Everybody loved Sarah. The base came back (I’m voting for Sarah!). Suddenly the polls were even. The viciousness of the Obama campaign started to show. The disgusting onslaught against her by the left-demholes and MSM (I repeat myself) generated a backlash to McCains benefit. Suddenly polls show McCain ahead, and it started to look like he could win this thing, despite the most unfavorable electoral environment facing a candidate since Carter sought reelection.

This was McCain’s high-water mark. Then…….they let the demMSM set the agenda. They let them prattle on about how Palin was being hidden from the press to hide her inexperience. And they agree to interviews with Gibson, Couric, etc. Why not just let Howard Dean do the interview? There was no way that was not going to hurt. And they didn’t let Sarah be Sarah, annoying the base that was re-energized. MSM onslaught continues.

Then came the financial mess. Suspending his campaign to come bask to DC and get to work! That worked out well. Nothing was passed, so the narrative is “he couldn’t get it done!’ The dems win. Now some pork-laden POS will pass. And the base will hate it. The dems win again. Andrew Cuomo? So-much for a reenergized base. Granted, the MSM will bash him whatever he does. And if Obama sits under his desk sucking his thumb, the MSM (Obie’s base) will laud his economic brilliance, supported by polls of course. All targeted at the moron-vote.

McCain had his chance and he blew it. In between suspending his campaign and getting to DC, he had the floor. He should have delivered a speech. Short and concise with bullet items. Spell out the problem—Fannie/Freddie, PC loans to the unqualified….. Name names…... Clinton hacks fleecing F&F for millions. Make the Enron analogy. Context the public understands. You might mention these same Clinton hacks are on Obama’s team. Then quote yourself, show the video of yourself calling attention to this pending mess 3 years ago! Then quote and show videos of Dodd, Frank and other dems blowing it off as no-problem. Then maybe a mention that these 2 buffoons have accepted over $100K from F&F to look the other way. Then perhaps mention Obie – in only 3 years – has accepted nearly as much, over $100K. That’s a good set-up for the clean up DC talk.

He could have followed up with press conferences. First one might deal with the fact that the Republicans weren’t the obstacle. If it was such a good bill, the dems could pass it themselves! Then mention how Pelosi sabotaged the first vote and maybe mention that 95 (or whatever) dems voted against it, so the Rs didn’t stop it. Maybe mention why his colleagues voted against it, recommend changes? The next press conference, maybe talk about the millions and millions of unrelated pork and subsidies being put into the new version-dovetails right into his stop-the-pork/earmarks-and-reduce-govt-spending talk. Would this have worked? Maybe not. The MSM would spin it against him no matter what. But go on offense for crying out loud.

Instead, he wanted to be honorable. Above the fray of petty partisan politics. What a fool. This isn’t a 6th grade debating team. The dems are viscous and will do absolutely anything to win. McCain brought a water-pistol to a knife fight. To the dems, no issue is to important to politicize. They absolutely cleaned his clock on this. His numbers are dropping faster than the stock market.

Now McCain is hiding under his desk sucking his thumb. Four years of liberal hell begins Jan 20th.

Pretty accurate. National primary day so that this doesn’t happen again. By the time I got to vote, the RNC had already selected McCain.

I think he would be better for the country than Obama, but he needs to quit reaching across the isle.

I agree with everything you said.

I can’t fathom why the easiest of targets like the democratic lead congress with the lowest approval ratings arent being highlighted and then focus on Obama’s alignment with that horrible congress...

No, lets focus on earmarks. Sure, those are bad but its not a way to rally anyone. CMON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know we have a month but unless he learns how to be a true Maverick in a Presidential Campaign he is toast. I question his backbone on the bailout mess and it concerns me. I will still vote for him but my eyes might be closed when I do it.

There are not enough black people and hard core liberals to vote Obama in. He will not win. Too many white people who will NOT vote for a LIBERAL black guy. No matter how hard the MSM tries, it won’t happen. No worries...

once the electorate is reminded of wright, ayers etc... game set match. 30 days is an eternity in politics and the best is yet to come.

That’s funny... my calendar’s telling me it’s October 2nd, but this makes it sound like it’s already November 5th, and that I’ve slept through the past month, including the election!

So with all this, McCain stays within striking distance, 5 to 8% maybe.

That's where he is right now. Yesterday's Gallup poll had him down 4 points in a Registered Voter poll (which always leans left).

The race is still close, with McCain about 2-3 points behind. But, you've chosen to post your defeatist vanity a month before the votes are even cast.

Man up.

Governor Palin gives Senator McCain a much better
chance to be POTUS.
Senator McCain lowers his chance by blessing this
loot America bill.

This little insight into your character is pretty much all one needs to know about your lengthy vanity post.
