Given McCain's bleak chances, would you take Hillary now?

Posted on 09/28/2008 8:33:11 PM PDT by FiscalConservative1985

I never thought I'd be saying this, but I wish Hillary Clinton could be President, given the alternatives. I'd take Hillary Clinton right now over a 25% chance of McCain winning. At least Hillary is experienced and cares about all Americans. Her tax policies would not have been near as bad as Obama's either. I think she would have governed in the centrist manner that Bill did. I hated the Clintons in the past, but if he had been serious on terrorism and had a better moral compass, I could call him a great President.

So my fellow conservatives, given the choice between a slim chance of a McCain victory or an assured Clinton Presidency, which would you choose?

“Obama is going to get walloped.”

He’s going to get his Oss kicked on election day.

I’ll bet you’ve already been told-off enough for posting this so I won’t add to it except to say -

NO HILLARY, NO HOW!

I am shocked by the vitriol in some of your posts, for a fairly neutral topic of discussion. I would have thought that after the ObamaTruthSquads in Missouri, that conservative forums would be fighting for free speech now more than ever. I am now bashing McCain or praising Obama, just stating my opinion based on TRENDS in the polls. They could turn around, but time is running short.

Yep. It’s hard not to just turn off the computer and television until November 5th.

Geez people, I was just asking a hypothetical.

Asking a hypothetical isn't being realistic. It is being hypothetical.

i’d swallow the pill and take Hillary

But you can't take that pill. Hillary isn't running.

As for being realistic, the presidential race is several weeks away. Have you volunteered at your local Republican headquarters to help get the McCain/Palin ticket elected?

Nobody else seems to think so. Almost EVERY poll I’ve seen suggests Obama won.

Why people think that, I can’t explain, but they do.

He just creamed Obama in the first debate. Bleak chances my @33!

Yup. I've noticed the "concern trolls" have really been ramping it up since the debate. It was obvious to anyone but the Drive-Bys that McCain won it decisively.

If it were not for Palin, I’d vote for Hillary over McCain. He is no friend to conservatives, as he’s worked overtime this week to prove. He’ll undercut Republicans far more often than he’ll help, and he’ll be the ‘brand’ defining the GOP to the mushy middle.

“when Rasmussen has McCain down 5-6 points, it’s time to admit that we are in big trouble.”

Dude, I’ve been lying to the telephone surveys 3 times this past week! Do you really think everyone answers those polls honestly? You sound like a naive 9 year old.

And on economic issues, Hillary is light years better than Obama.

On what do you base that startling assertion?

Geez people, I was just asking a hypothetical.

In case you are truly not a troll, I'll answer the question. If the choice were between Hillary and Obama, I would take Hillary even though I don't like her and I don't like her ideas. She would be less dangerous than Obama. McCain isn't my favorite guy and I'm going to vote for him. Obama is a demon.
