Note the filler article following the "Benes is Assailed" story. General Pershing headed the American Battlefields Commission since its inception. Ten years earlier he had an assistant to research the WWI battlefield sites and help him write a visitor's manual. The assistant was Major Dwight D. Eisenhower, who got valuable experience studying the terrain of France and established important connections to Gen. Pershing and the man who recruited Pershing - George Marshall.
