BUSH is the one who called the meeting, and it was a good idea, after his call with McCain...Bush called Obama’s bluff about “call me if you need me”. So Pres Bush called Obama and told him to come to WH mtg. My guess is House Repubs got together and decided to challenge this. There is a bill needed, as all acknowledge to save MAIN STREET from WALL STREET collapse. It can be made better, AND NOT letting Acorn getting any money...

I’d bet it was 20$% of the “mortgage relief” goodies that was going to be processed through ACORN. Still billions that should be zero. Mortgage relief was one of Barney Frank’s pet add-ins.

I don't know if you saw the story, but the founder of ACORN, Wade Rathke, had to step down because he helped cover up that his brother had embezzled (iirc) a million dollars from the group, and he never reported it.
