VERMONT -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow's milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.
"PETA's request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves," the statement says.
PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health.

Yeah. Haven't you heard?
It's now OK to vote for someone based on the color of his skin!
It’s gross because it’s bizarre and unseemly — somewhat akin to cannibalism (with which, I am sure, the PETA ghouls would have no problem.)
I’d rather they pushed for soy ice cream, which is actually really good, then us lactose intolerant and allergic population can have something that’s in ice cream shops AND peta can be as happy as they like about saving animals.
And, for anyone who’s wondering, lactose intolerant people wouldn’t be able to digest human milk, either - it would make them even sicker than anything else, as human milk has about twice as much lactose in it as cow’s milk (9% for humans as opposed to 4.6% for cow’s milk) and more lactose than any other mammal’s milk. In fact, given that peoples’ lactase production usually goes down as they go older, human milk as a replacement for cow milk could increase digestive problems in people.
