I know those folks in Reserve and Catron County and they are the salt of the earth. Unfortunately, “environmental” groups and the federal government (U.S. Forest Service) have almost destroyed the timber and ranching businesses and put the town of Reserve out of business. I covered a county commission meeting for a newspaper in the 90s when an ordinance requiring all county residents to own a a gun was presented. It didn’t pass, but, heck, almost everyone has a gun anyone. Big Eastern Media (like CNN) were there, and it was a hoot.
