The Hobbit Hole XXXVII - ...Down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed!

Posted on 09/25/2008 6:43:34 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Wow, we haven’t had anything like that up here. It’s been nice and cool actually, had some lovely 70 degree days.

Read one of each and split the difference.

Anyway I was thinking he was Hitler not the antichrist...

I would suggest a nice biography of Hitler and a copy of Forest Gump.

Thanks all. I’m still nervous, but it helps.

Next scary steps: asking for time off, and getting the spacer thingies put in in preparation for the actual braces.

1. You’re already researching for NaNoWriMo? I am *such* an underachiever....
2. Good luck with that.

Congrats! You won’t regret it.

Remember, it’s not “asking for time off”. It’s “I’ll be out Friday afternoon getting teeth pulled”. This is a health thing and you don’t have to feel bad about it :)

Make sure you impose on Hair for help with the tooth recovery.

It’s all part of a 5-year retirement plan.

No, I’m not kidding...

His office is closed on Friday, so it’ll have to be a Thursday afternoon more than likely, and I’ll be out on a Friday. And my current boss will be out on maternity leave starting at the end of June, so she’s feeling a little pressed for time. Hopefully it’ll work out.... I should be able to work from home to an extent, so at least there’s that.

I’ll have to figure out what I can and can’t eat and all that fun stuff, too.

Well, you’d roughly be where I’ll be in 5 years. :-)

And, as I told the Mrs. this morning, “you know, if we’d done this 25 years ago...”

We use Alivet. We've been happy with it for both dog and horse drugs.

If you use the link from our forum, we make a little kickback, and it doesn't cost any more :)

Well, I’ve kind of finally at long last gotten into a daily writing routine. If I can hold onto that (and that’s a big if), I’d hope that *sometime* in the next twenty years I will have written something worth publishing. The whole “monkeys on typewriters” statistic.

Exactly what Jen said. Don't ask your boss; inform your boss.

Pull your boss aside and say, "Boss, I wanted to let you know that I'm getting braces, and I'll have several dental appointments over the next few months. The first one is Thursday <insert date here>. I'm having several teeth extracted during that appointment, so I'll be out Thursday and Friday. I should be back that next Monday."

Don't offer to work from home ... your boss will take you up on your offer, and you may not feel up to fulfilling said offer. Take the Friday for yourself ... even if you wake up that Friday morning feeling ten feet tall and bulletproof, use that energy for yourself.

The trouble is...there are a few things that *have* to be done before she’s out, and one of them happens to be on the 12th.

I’m really hoping I can get in on the 4th, but we’ll see! That would be the best case scenario.

Ready to go home.

Even with vicodin, it’s been a bad butt day.
