The Hobbit Hole XXXVII - ...Down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed!

Posted on 09/25/2008 6:43:34 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I'm doomed.

You seem to spend an inordinate amount of time in that condition.

EBR’s are cool. :-)

WooHoo!

My new gun arrived today! Just got back from zipping over to the shop to pick it up. It looks and feels *great*. It’s purdy... :-)

Now, to stock up on shells... and get my knoxx stock.

The stock actually arrived yesterday, but I have had to RMA it back to Blackhawk and await a replacement. To install it you insert a long allen tool through this little hole in the stock to get to the mounting screw... ‘cept the one I got had no little hole. I called them, and they couldn’t understand why I couldn’t find the little hole. Ah... how’d we live without camera phones? I took a picture of the place where the hole should be and sent it to them. She says... “oh, wow.” She’d never seen that happen before. The thing is obviously very well made, and otherwise their quality control is pretty good. I guess the day they made mine the guy who drills the holes was out sick. :-)

I said I’d just drill my own hole since it was pretty obvious where it needed to be. But she said that would void the warranty if I did that. Ugh. Almost said “So?” and did it anyway. But decided to go ahead and RMA the thing.

So... I gotta wait probably a couple of weeks. Yeesh. If I’d known it would be this much trouble I’d have just bought one from a local store.

But at least now I have the gun. Pretty jazzed about that.

:-)

Another pic of the item, just for grins:

Remington 870 XCS Marine Magnum

It'll get the Knoxx stock, then I think the next trick-out goodies will be a tube mount for a light, and a fiberoptic front sight.

The Medieval ‘Church’ Greek makes sense. She’s a Classics Major at a Catholic University, not too far from you! ;o)

We ought to make some time to go shoot, sometime pretty soon.

Got an itchy trigger finger. :-)

You might want to consider a replacement handguard that has a built-in flashlight, or a small piece of M1913 rail that will allow you to put what you want on. No extra pressure switch and wires that way. Check out that den of gun sin at Brownells.
