This coming Monday, September 29, homeschool parents will be able to pick up a complimentary tall size (12 fl. oz.) cup of Pike Place Roast from Starbucks.
This promotion is part of Starbucks “Great Start for Great Teachers” promotion, and is now open to all teachers.
HSLDA intervened when we were alerted that homeschool parents were not included in the promotion.
We are pleased that Starbucks is recognizing the contribution of homeschool parents by extending their program to us.
In order to pick up your free cup of Pike Place Roast you will need to present evidence that you are a homeschooler.
Any one item on the following list should be accepted by Starbucks:
If you don’t have one of the items on this list be creative and try to provide other proof of homeschooling.
Please note: the final decision about whether to accept proof of homeschooling resides with Starbucks.
We hope you choose to take advantage of this offer.
To print out additional copies of your membership card, visit the online HSLDA membership services page.
Ping for another reason to homeschool (free stuff) ;-)
Go Starbucks!
Burnt coffee, yuck!
Besides, the nearest Starbucks has wireless Internet (AT&T) that you have to pay for. That’s right - you go in there, pay their exorbitant prices for burnt coffee, and they won’t even give you free wireless Internet.
No thank you. I’ll drive 3 or 4 miles down the road to a coffee place that gives me free Internet. And their coffee is pretty good, too.
I can feel the love.
Don’t drink any Starbucks products containing milk from China.
Sure. We’re having to cancel meetings and practices because people can’t find gas. Even if we can, we’d spend more driving to Starbucks and back than it costs to make a whole pot of coffee (which we can drink in our nightgown) at home.
Dang, I’m pulling my son out of public school right now!!!!
that’s almost exactly what Mr. P said when I told him to be sure to get his free cup on Monday.
He said if they had to be TOLD to be fair, he doesn’t want their stinking coffee.
They do have less burned tasting roasts now, though.
I didn’t know their cream was from China. Yuck.
One of the better reasons.
“wed spend more driving to Starbucks and back than it costs to make a whole pot of coffee (which we can drink in our nightgown) at home.”
LOL!
One of the practical advantages of homeschooling :-).
“HSLDA intervened when we were alerted that homeschool parents were not included in the promotion.”
It sounds like HSLDA has too much time on its hands. I think it is against the self-reliant spirit of homeschooling to be pressuring a company for free stuff, just because it is giving free stuff to public schoolteachers.
Good business decision.
Wow, just read your tagline. You never know where or when you will be able to enhance your vocabulary. Solipsistic, it’s the Word of The Day at our house! Thanks!
One can always count on Mark Steyn.
Maybe you can tell me something. My mother in law and I have both been wondering what is up with Steyn, we both love reading his stuff. Did he quit writing for a while, is that why people are saying they are glad he’s back? Is there any one place he appears regularly online, like Coulter and Sowell and Williams? TIA
I believe Mark Steyn has been taking a vacation from his regular columns. It might have something to do with the lawsuit in Canada where he was on trial for upsetting Moslems.
Anyway, he’s still not putting out columns every few days like he used to, but he has a few paragraphs on the NRO (National Review Online) blog “The Corner” from time to time. The quote in my tagline came from a column dated in June, I think.
Here’s his website:
I had not heard of the lawsuit. Thanks!
