CLEAN UP IN AISLE 2088748!
In our minds, such speculations and prearrangements are very sound and prudent. Spoken aloud in public, or written, they are bulletin board material for the other side.
Great Point!
Hopefully the low stopping power of my .30 caliber carbine (left to me my by father)is compensated by the fact that I keep 2 30-round magazines and 2 14-round magazines ready at all times.
When they lose big-time, they will only have themselves to look in the mirror at !!
Buy a copy of “Red Dawn”.
Memorize it......:)
So, you're building a range card to shoot-it-out from inside your home/appartment. I should think it would be better to confront the rioting mob from more advantageous positions.
Perhaps instead of using military combat rules you brush up on civilian laws. If a liquored up mob is smashing windows and turning over cars, I’m calling the police and the rifle with the scope is staying in the rifle case.
You can only use deadly force in Texas in the defense of yourself and others against death or serious bodily harm.
I’m in Memphis but I ain’t skeered. :D
It’s always a good idea to be prepared, and having tactical knowledge of your surroundings is good preparation.
But I think taking long-range shots at rioters would be defined by most jurisdictions as murder. You’d be hard pressed to say that you were in immediate fear of grave bodily harm from a group 100+ yards away. Even shooting to prevent some other crime at that range is hard to justify.
I can think of two possible exceptions: first, if you witness someone else being attacked at that range. But you’d better be darn sure you can hit your target, and only your target, and that there’s nothing behind your target. The only other possibility I see is some kind of coordinated attack on your home/place of business from a gang that’s also equipped with long guns. But I doubt any post-Obama rioters would be organized, trained, equipped, or interested in that kind of military-like attack.
Am I endangered because I do not have a porch? ;-)
I am in a suburban neighborhood with an SKS, a 20 shot clip, and 1000 rounds. I live two miles from a rifle firing range, if that matters.
I seriously doubt I will need it, but if so, I will consider it very much a “second amendment” moment. I will consider myself a state militia volunteer.
Let me get this straight (doing my best Columbo impression) if Obama loses his black supporters might riot and that makes white voters racist?
Even the police don’t come back here in my neck of the woods without a darn good reason!
There aren’t any libtards with guts enough to venture into redneck country!
If there were, we’d soon educate them!
Seabee ping! NMCB 22.
This thread seems little more than an indulgence in the standard stupid “zombie rioters! oh my!” fantasy.
Yes, there is some merit in considering certain possibilities. There’s a difference between one scenario in a larger security plan, vs. “get out the chaingun!!1! pwnage gallore!”
I mean really, we’ve got posts about taking 800m shots, stopping BMWs, .50BMGs for “setting boundaries”, “no jury would convict”, etc. WTF?
Post #47 is the only realistic one here. Beyond sheer front-line firepower, issues include no power, no water, firefighting, no communications, being injured, and (among many other things) rioters inconveniently jumping fences in your backyard instead of politely staying in the street so you can “mow ‘em down”. If your house is on fire, things are gonna get complicated in a hurry (didn’t think about that, eh? all your family & possessions are inside, and someone just threw a burning trashcan thru the back window - now what?).
Oh, yeah, and it’s a vanity thread. Those usually don’t go well.
