Defintely a sad day for bulldog nation. Maybe the dawgs can send Larry out with a nice retirement national title gift.
I have nothing against the man personally. I wish him well, as I would anyone. I reacted only to the headline that he was leaving the airwaves, and I’m glad he’s off the air, as are a lot of people.
One thing about Larry, you always knew his heart was with the dogs, let the opposition make a great play and he would
give it up to them. None of this objective announcing nonsense, play great ball and earn Larry’s respect.
Will sure miss hearing that voice while I sit on a dove field or in hunt camp.
God Speed Mr. Munson.
tet68.
God bless him, he ranks with Harry Caray as one of the classic sports announcers. No matter who your team was, you could always enjoy his commentary. Most people don’t know this, but he started his SEC career announcing for Vanderbilt (both football and baseball) before he went to UGA. I fear he may be in his twilight, and I hope that every team he announced for has a banner year in his honor. Both Vandy and UGA look like they can uphold that wish.
You should be embarrassed for yourself for having posted that nonsense. And I don’t even support UGA.
Way to hijack this thread with your crappy attitude. If you don’t like the man’s broadcasting, fine. But he’s retiring and probably dying after a lifetime of making many people happy. Show some dignity and class or go elsewhere.
I am totally not surprised. My husband and I heard him a couple of weeks ago broadcasting a GA game and he sounded so weak. We both said that we would hear he was retiring soon. I am an Auburn fan, but I used to get a kick out of him saying, “Sugar is falling from the skies!” That was back when the SEC winner would go to the Sugar Bowl.
Larry you will be missed by thousands of fans. I have listened to you all my life. I always turn down the sound on t.v. and have the radio on.
I have even held the phone next to the radio for my sons to here just a little of Larry, they live to far away to get Larry on the radio.
Larry will be discussed for many years and we will never forget that Larry was as big a fan as I am.
“RUN LARRY RUN, to your just retirement” forever in our hearts.
Larry you will be missed by thousands of fans.
Indeed. End of an era. We lived in the best of times, in the best place, in all of human history.
Go Dawgs.
This Gator wishes Mr. Munson all the best in his retirement.
