Given how slow FR has been for the past few weeks and now seemingly to slow to a grind, I can't imagine the site being of any use on election night. The traffic would just crush it, especially if it can't handle the current load.
Is there a backup plan? Is the old Yahoo site still up and running?
Jim....what would it require to make this site more secure, faster?....should we have a quick bake sale or is money not the issue?...thx
good question...thanks for bringing it up. why is FR so slow? it’s terrible anymore
FR has been slow for nearly every election I can remember.
Ditto and great points. I know that I’ve been wondering why we’ve been shuffling along lately.
I donate automatically, but if we need to raise funds let’s get the ball rolling for more bandwidth and security!
Given Jim’s budget and the amount of traffic FR sees, it’s a wonder that it is up at all.

This is our Canadian sister site, inspired by Free Republic, and naturally it's a bit different ( you learn to say "eh?" a lot ) but the format is similar in that you can use html, or plain text, and ( most ) of the folks are pretty friendly.

Took me about 5 minutes to log on to FR and post this.
Reminds me of the good old bad days of 56K dial up :-)
Love the your tag line...lmaoooo
If I understand correctly, JimRob has already ordered two new servers. I have a feeling they won’t be enough...;)
Bump for later lurking
I think if Jim needed just an extra hunk of cash that could be used NOW then I think we should have an immdiate extra quarter of fundraising....let it go on for a week or so and whatever is contributed, put towards servers, etc or whatever is needed.

I’m not sure, but I think I was banned.
Can you check with Connie?
She doesn’t answer my posts.
I’ve tried to register at FD. I never get a confirmation e-mail back that will allow me to post.
Too close to Canada I guess. They must’ve heard of me. :)
Same here, I just ran speakeasy from Nashville to San Francisco (closest to Fresno) and got 11787 download and 2925 upload.
Certainly ain’t the Net.
I have a newly installed high speed cable modem and thought I had a bad hook up.
Good to know it’s not me.
