Does age have anything to do with it? Seems like coaches in their 40s and 50s are better. I’m probably incredibly naive here... just a thought.
Who will be the new Raiders coach? Art Shell (for the third time)? Kenny Stabler? Barry Switzer (he won a Super Bowl in Dallas!)?
Meanwhile, Matt Millen keeps rolling along...
Good for Kiffin. He’s wanted out since Davis refused to fire Ryan as the defensive coordinator and refused to give him as much control over player personnel as he wanted. Davis wanted him to quit so he didn’t have to pay him. If Davis fires him, Kiffin gets the money and gets to go get another job.
My guess is that Lofton may be the new HC. As much as people hated Shell, he had a great draft and signed a number of excellent UDFA’s for the team (some of which were let get when trying to change the systems). I think Davis liked what Shottenheimer did (while Lofton was there) at SD, and Lofton seems willing to work with Al. But, who knows!
I don’t know which would be worse...to work for Al Davis or Matt Millen.
Al Davis is a senile old coot.
Back to the junior college staff lane
I can’t say I disagree with Mr. Davis here, I blamed the coaching staff in general after yesterday’s game, particularly our final drive and the poor clock management. Oh, well...
There’s not a person on this planet that wants to deal with Al’s crap. I can’t wait til he’s gone. Then maybe MY Raiders will have a chance at being a good football team as apposed to a good soap opera.
