One thing that we will not be having is chicken.

We just had to dump about a dozen cans of chicken that we put up. The seals on the lids apparently were bad. The jars sealed and then popped about two days later. We didn't notice for a couple of weeks. You can imagine the smell.

I don't want to see chicken tonight.

Were you pressure-canning them?

I’ve heard that’s the only safe way with meat.

The only thing that could smell worse would be bottled carp that had gone bad.
