If President Bush would come out and make a statement the media would be FORCED to cover it.

I understand there’s balance and the media wants to cover the Mortgage/Bailouts.

But they don’t need to go wall to wall with it!!

It’s front page on Drudge.

Fox news covered it briefly earlier.

Rush and Fox etc. may be holding back because it’s hard to confirm this. Taheri is trustworthy and I can’t imagine he would have gone public with this unless he had some assurance that the Iraqi foreign minister would back him up, but . . . . If O’Reilly, Rush etc. went wall-to-wall with this and then the Iraqi’s come out with a stone-cold denial, it would only help Obama.

The only way the Iraqi’s will back this and confirm it and give it legs is if they think there’s some advantage to having McCain rather than Obama win. They might well prefer McCain, I don’t know. But even if they do, they’re playing a poker game too. Until they have some strong confidence that McCain can win, they don’t really want to be in the position of stabbing Nobama in the back, do they?

Until there’s some way to confirm the story and some assurance that the Iraqi’s at least won’t deny it, I can understand why Rush and others are treating it with kid gloves.

If the story is false, and right-wing media goes wall-to-wall with it, the left will reveal the truth and the right (and talk radio) will have egg on their face. Obama will get control of the news cycle back, and have a week of fawning coverage during which he can publicly feel sorry for himself.

Stay cool. If this is real, it’ll come out. But Obama is so desperate he’ll try anything, and the “venus flytrap” strategy worked well for the Clintons when the were up against the wall.

Why this is not a bigger deal beats the hell out of me.

I also am surprised that Obama mocking McCain's war injuries has also been buried.

I’m listening to Rush & was surprised that he hasn’t mentioned it. I would expect FOX & other MSM-types to be trying to confirm the story before airing it. A confirmation from the Iraqi FM would be terrific. Otherwise, it’s just a rumor.

Sorry, but unlike dems unless this story can be proven then the right will not go with it and the press never will.

Rush almost finished with the 2nd hour and no mention of this. Probably being cautious to make sure the story is accurate.

I think it is smart to get some verification first. In fact beef up the accusation so that it has to be addressed.

I think because according to a commenter on the NY Post website, Obama actually talked about this openly in his speech while he was on the tarmac there? I have not checked the truth of this, but if so, this is a non-story.

Rush just talked about it and is playing a new ditty about it by Al Shanklin.

One night in Baghdad.

Hannity will beat it to death if it is true - just as he did with Rev. Wright.

For the junior Senator from Illinois to be trying to influence American military policy in Iraq sounds like treason to me.

If Obama violated the Logan Act, then so did Nancy Pelosi. I hope I am wrong, but this story will die soon, unfortunately.

The thought of Obama being led away in handcuffs is too titillating to entertain. But it would be worse for us if Hillary took his place.

“Why is the Media/New Media completely ignoring The Obama/Iraq troop withdrawl story?”

Is that a rhetorical question, or do you really not know?

It doesn’t matter. The news media will NEVER cover any story that reflects badly on The One. At the most, they will give it a brief mention, in a corner of the news. Then, they will marginalize it by reporting it only in the context of negative Republican campaigning. Then, they will never mention it again, because they have so many other important stories to cover, such as how Sarah Palin once left her son’s pet hamster without enough food during an overnight hunting trip.
