(((ATRW family)))
Thank you all so much for your prayers!! I can’t tell you how much it meant to us to know you were praying. :)
I’ve been through floods and tornadoes, but nothing meets this magnitude of destruction.
Having said that, we all slept through it. It hit here around 5:30AM with sustained winds lasting probably 45 minutes. I know this because my neighbor told me she’d never go through that again!! She said it was horrible, they heard every leaf, twig, limb, rock, and debris that the winds would pick up and throw into her house. She thought it would never stop and said she covered her head under pillows and blankets and could still hear it.
She said when it got light, she went to look and found shingles all over her yard . They weren’t her’s. Not sure if she ever found out where they came from.
We got our power back on this morning. Our entire neighborhood now has power. Thanks be to God!!! And great volunteers.
My freezer food is ruined. We were unable to find ice in time. I had extra ice made, but apparently our coolers aren’t as good as we thought they were. :( Ice melted in the first 36 hours. We thought our freezer would hold out as we just cleaned it a couple of weeks ago and the food lasted days - but not this time. The ice we’d put into it was not frozen clear through and melted too quickly. Son and I had great fun cleaning it out today. Thank goodness he has a good sense of humor!!
My washer died the day before Ike hit. In all the confusion, I never called a repairman, and now NONE of them in this area have power!!
My computer is totally out. Son thinks it is a bad hard drive, as after prolonged time of being turned off, it comes back without being able to be loaded. This will be the 3rd or 4th time I will be taking it in to have it “fixed”.
Our refrigerator/freezer was being used as an ice chest, due to our ice chest not working properly. I thought I was keeping up on the melting ice from the bags in the freezer but I didn’t and today my carpet is wet and I am hoping it’s from the ice melting in the top part of the refrigerator.
Our back fence is down. And that is all damage we sustained. Again thanks be to God !!!!!
In Katy most people were thoughtful and courteous. We all rallied and worked in yards to clear the limbs and leaves.Strangers offered help. We are lucky.
God blessed us with unseasonable mild to chilly weather. We’ve had our windows open since Sunday. Absolutely gorgeous weather out.
Well things keep looking up - repairman just called from his cell phone and said he was on his way. Yea!!
I am working on son’s computer, so my time here will be sporadic.
Thank you again for all your prayers and (((Jemian))) thank you so much for keeping in touch with us and relaying messages!!
God love you all.
Oh, my surgery is Friday at 7:30 AM for worn out ligaments. My foot has hurt for years. Feels like you are walking on sharp rocks. It got to the point I could hard get around, without being in pain. Then when I broke my toes a couple of weeks ago, I decided while I was sidelined with them, I might as well go ahead and have my surgery. It only takes a few minutes and healing time is 3-6 weeks. That’s not bad, and I don’t have to use crutches or be in a cast, so that is even better!!!
Oh my - what happened to my paragraphs??????
You are so sweet dear Kassie - Giving thanks through all of your trials. I just can’t imagine sleeping through a hurricane - that in itself was a blessing.
(((hugs))) Snarly
Good morning, kassie, and thanks for the post and so happy to see things are moving along. Prayers up for successful surgery and quick recovery.
Prayers offered, kassie.
Welcome back from the “big wind” kassie. It sounds awful.
Hello Everyone. Yesterday I was busier than a one-armed paper hanger, but I have almost everything done. Early this am, it was so nice and cool, I went out before the breeze woke up and sprayed a bunch of small woody plants growing where they weren’t supposed to be. We have some of the strangest looking vines...they don’t grow where I grew up. Then I woke up some fire ants. I didn’t see the bed, and stood right on top of it...I guess I didn’t “Over and Out” that place. It’s done now, though. Kill the boogers.
