Nope, had a few beers, watched a movie and went to bed. It's been a long week.

Meant to say that I left a message at the “big house” also.

PB, are you talking about Winfield KS? My BFF lives in Wichita, and her area was badly flooded yesterday. Took her by surprise. She’s thankful for no basement damage, but many neighbors had that, plus other damage as well (sewers, etc)

From the live thread: kassie's area

I live in Katy, south of I-10 and the weather has improved much here. It is still raining some and we get wind gusts but not too bad.

There is alot of debris, large limbs down but on my cul-de-sac there is not one tree down.

I was so fortunate to have lost my power for only 1 hour. My brother lives about 4 miles from but he does does not have electricity. Luckily, he has a generator.

He can also chant the quoran with the right rythm and whatever. the call to prayer: “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset”. I still think he goes back to his “grandma’s” muslim roots. His life story is too made up for me to believe otherwise.

So glad to see the report from Katy! That is where my family is holed up to ride out the storm.

It looks like it's going to pass by on the east. Things are just a little damp here.

Heard from my family in Houston. They are all OK! Said they have been told it could be up to 2 weeks before all the power is back on in Houston. Gas gouging going on BIG time!

Said they had trees down, but not on their houses and their roofs are still on....they dodged the bullet this time.

Prayers for Kassie and family.

Prayer request for the family of a dear friend. They own several bakeries in Galveston and surrounding areas. They are being looted. Someone drove a truck through the front window and dragged the safe out. Brother and 73 year old mother are presenting an armed presence to protect their property. No police available to help them.

I just received this text message from Kassie:

Yes [to my questions was she alright and did she still have her roof] we still have our roof (whew). No a/c though. No internet either.

This is an answer to prayer and our prayers still continue.

Prayers up.

I was hoping there would be no looting.

My dear friend is something of a maverick herself, she carries a .25 autoloader in her.... erm... in a piece of clothing.... it's well concealed and easily accessible (for her). I'm not surprised that her mom is there with a handgun, protecting her family's investment.

These are good, Godly folks that work hard, feed lots of people, and don't deserve to have their hard work destroyed by looters.

I'm grateful that my friends are able to protect themselves and their property, but I'm not happy that they have to.

That’s good, your garden is loving this, so is mine, except mine doesn’t have anything in it yet. As soon as I can, I’m going to plant some English peas and some pole beans. some mustard greens and collards, some carrots, parsley and other stuff, but don’t know what, yet. If I can find some tomatoe plants, I’ll get a couple or so.

I’m glad she and family are ok. We watched the storm most of last night and this am. I really held her in prayer hoping nothing untoward would happen in the Katy area.

i’m at mom’s computer. I turn it on and it comes up with Free Republic as the home page.

Tonight is my high school 5 year class reunion and I’ll miss the UT vs Alabama game
