The Salem-owned stations have provided the major-market backbone for (Laura) Ingrahams Talk Radio Network-syndicated show, but today appears to be their last day together. Thats what lies behind yesterdays announcement that in southern California, Saul Levines L.A.-market KGIL/1260 and San Diego-market sister XESURF/540 will pick up Laura beginning next week.
Thats because Lauras off of Salems KRLA (870). I believe shell also be off the Salem conservative talk stations in places like Philadelphia (WNTP/990) and Chicago (WIND/560). Earlier this Summer, Laura was locked out (she says) by Talk Radio Network as they began to negotiate a renewal of her five-year deal. That kept her off the air for the ending of the Spring Arbitron period, and lots of owners werent thrilled with that. Salem was one of them. Now this week, Laura's been telling on-air callers from specific markets Salem markets - that she may be gone from that station as of next Monday, and to check her website for the new affiliate. Ingrahams had a great run with TRNs Mark Masters, who gave her the daytime clearance she wanted when she left Westwood five years ago. Now Masters apparently faces a hurry-up job of replacing more than a dozen affiliates in major markets.
Mike Gallagher is on now. It has already been noted on KRLA's website, and KRLA is already off of Laura's website list of stations.
I was wondering why Mike Gallager was on this morning instead of Laura and I found your article. I don’t really get it. What happened? They couldn’t negotiate a contract? I wasn’t always thrilled with Laura’s show, but I’m not a big fan of Gallager either.
In some ways both sides (Talk Radio Network and Salem Comm.)
aren’t talking other than a quote from TRN saying it was a business decision, but I would suspect:
—Laura’s lockout or her self-imposed stay-away from the air
during contract negotiations recently (I think she was off
for about a month or so) may have soured Salem Comm.
—Salem Comm. wants Mike Gallagher, their own host, to have
more and better stations. Just a guess here.

At least Doug MacIntyre is on.
I’ll add that I guess she and TalkRadioNetwork (her syndicator) did work out a contract but Salem Communications
which owns several stations that WERE running her, was not pleased by the “lockout” and figured they could plug
Gallagher in. I don’t know the details of Laura’s re-up
with TRN but apparently it had gotten done when she
returned a little awhile ago.
Still waiting to hear about the new Dallas station. Boortz is now on in her place on KSKY.

Hopefully the announcement will come soon; I am monitoring some sites with info and of course people can check
Laura’s station finder...which currently is prominently linked on her start page

I’m listening to Mark Davis on WBAP. He said that there will be a programming shakeup on that station on Friday.
WBAP carries Limbaugh here in DFW.
not sure where they’d put her on; perhaps at 7 pm in place
of (TalkRadioNetwork’s) Jerry Doyle? I’m here in MA but by looking at their schedule, I doubt they’d dump morning news/
Davis/Harvey, Rush, Sean, or Levin
WBAP is owned by Citadel which syndicates Hannity, Paul
Harvey, Imus & Levin

I know—just passing on Davis’s comment. We shall see...
Yes, that's their business model. Just about everything you hear on commercial radio, music, talk, religious shows, is essentially a paid commercial. The show producers try to make a profit by selling advertising above what their air time costs.
Yep—it’s Laura on WBAP. Details to follow...
Right—someone on radio-info.com Dallas board just mentioned acc. to Mark Davis on air comment, Laura will start next
Monday the 22nd from 7-10 pm replacing Jerry Doyle
660 in Dallas had Neal Boortz on ... no explanation. Laura is no longer listed as one of their radio hosts.
It’s too bad because 9 to 11 is a wasteland now with a local guy I don’t care for (Mark Davis), Bill O’Reilly (no thanks) and Neal.
I hope some other station will put her in the 9 AM time slot.
I didn’t listen to her regularly because she always ticked me off at some point, but she was better than what’s left.
There’s really no room on WBAP, unless they replaced Mark Davis, who is locally popular although I don’t care for him.
They have Rush 11-2, Hannity 2-5, Mark Levin 5-7
Unless they put her on very early or late nite....
And they won’t put her on early because they have very popular local program before Davis.
She’s replacing Jerry Doyle at 7 pm.
B-b-b-but, I thought Mark's been dominating the local market for the past 14 years? That's what his Rush intro says. Personally, I think Mark and Gallagher are two of the biggest blowhards on the air today.
What really would grate on me is the way Gallagher would use his show to bash a contractor, repairman, supplier, etc. who "did him wrong". I never did understand his popularity.
I thing Glenn Beck is on from 9-11, but I could be wrong.
